Gents,
Most of you have probably heard what a first class sales operation Shelby runs at Elite Autos. I haven't purchased a car from him yet, however can comment on service at his shop.

I was fortunate enough to have Shelby arrange xport of my car to a few of the rallys, either one way or round trip depending on the location. Last year he delivered my car to the rally in Utah. After picking it up in Florida and arriving at his shop en route, he called me and asked if I knew that my steering wheel leather had a big gauge or scratch in it. I said, in all honesty, it is possible it was there already, but I didn't recall it. He said he was going to replace my steering wheel regardless at no charge just in case his transporter did it, even when I told him I couldn't be sure. I have to say there are not many people who do business like that !

This year, after the rally in New Orleans, I had my car stop at his shop on its way home to Florida. What started as a much needed full detail (it wasn't me who went off the track into the dirt three times....) and full fluid service became a bit more as we did a bumper delete, repaired the clear bra, and had them tend to a few things Eric found in need of attention after a thorough inspection. The whole process working with them was really nice - we discussed prices for every step in advance, he photographed everything during the process, and emailed me regularly. They contacted me with photos and calls if they discovered anything that needed attention and kept in great communication.

On their last day with my car, after a final test drive at my request, Shelby and Eric called me to let me know there was a rattle coming from my muffler. They thought it was probably a weld that had broken on my muffler, which they had seen a few times before. I was eager to have my car back, and told them not to worry about fixing it as I told myself the rattle couldn't be that bad. Fast forward a week or two later and I should have listened to them and replaced the muffler as they suggested, as it is a bit annoying. I mentioned that to Shelby (who called to make sure I was happy with the car), and asked him how difficult it was to replace on my own, as there is not really anyone in my town who has done a lot of GT work. Shelby, ever the gentleman, kindly offered to have one of his techs do it free of charge if I simply paid for their plane ticket. It is hard to think of more of a class act.

I have not had any dealings with Shelby but after reading this and what others have said about him he is old school. His word, workmanship and service reflect directly to the man he is. (I would bet he probably does work on a hand shake from time to time.) Thanks for sharing that.

Shelby helped me research my GT even though I was buying from a privte party. He gave me all the information he had and gave it a thumbs up based on what he knew. That is unusual in any business.

They know the car, they do good work, they are easy to deal with.

VERY easy to deal with

Bought my GT from him. Class act. Highly recommend him!

Way Above And Beyond Expectations, Always. Can't Beat That.

I recently purchased my GT from Shelby. Before I made my decision, I was telling him about some of the other GT's I was looking at and the people selling them. He told me that the other two places selling were well known to him and would treat me right if I decided to buy those cars instead (rather than bad-mouthing the competition). Like I said in another thread, I was hesitant to wire that much money to a guy I had never met, for a car that I have never seen, but I have absolutely no regrets. Everything was exactly as described, no surprises, no disappointments. Thanks, Shelby!

As ownership continues to turn over and we attract a new GT owner audience to our Forum, the service you see from these GT service providers (and sellers in Shelby's case) is just the norm to us old timers.

I remember hearing at Rally 1 in Detroit where some owners (and nobody knew anybody at this point) wanted some services performed on their cars and there were a couple of mechanics who would work on our GT's overnight. Promising have the various services completed by morning. Just leave the keys at the front desk of the hotel and all would be taken care of.....WHAT? Leave the keys to my newly acquired $190K FGT at the desk for "some" mechanic to "pick it up, drive it to a garage, and service it"? Yea right!!!

Well, every word was true. Rich and Dennis (aka the GT Guys) are still at it today just outside the Detroit area. They continue to give our cars the same care and attention as they did during the rally 1 experience.

There are others in our ownership ranks that all rate (IMO) equally high top marks, Shelby and his service crew (Missouri) certainly, as well as Kendal at CoolTech (California) and Jason Heffener (Florida) and Torrie for our parts (Florida). The fraternity of owners and service providers on this Forum is much different than other “car clubs”. It’s about the car..... and business is usually conducted on a handshake.

Old hat to those of us who have been around for a few years, but understandably different to our new alumni. Takes some recalibration but it is refreshingly different.:biggrin

Agree completely. I've been around some time now and remain so pleased in my dealings with the various forum sponsors.
Have personally had great experiences with Shadowman, GT Guys, Kendall, Torrie, Exoticare to name a few.

Jax, you know after I wrote and posted my comments I noticed you joined our Forum only a short few months after me. Thus you are not newbie. And I did not mean to infer that you were. I ment no offense.

But many owners are new to the experience we have come to expect.

I am glad you got good service from Shelby. He has helped me out as well with rally transportation and a great sponsor of our Forum!

I have sent a few people to Shelby to purchase cars (not all GT's) and as of yet, not a single bad thing has been said about the experience. After my recent "accident", Shelby was helpful with advice on dealing with the insurance company, and knows that I'm actively looking for a replacement vehicle. I'm in no rush as driving season is over for now, but Shelby has also offerred to research any GT I find anywhere, no "strings". I told him that I'd be quite happy to purchase from him, if the right car comes along. I know that if I do get one from him, it will be exactly as represented, no surprises!!!

I am a "newbie" owner, and forum member. When my Insurance company required me to obtain an appraisal for my new purchase I reached out to the forum for advice....overwhelmingly the response was..... Shelby can help. One phone call to Shelby at Elite Motors, no hesitation, courteous, couldn't have been nicer agreed to help me....on top of all that NO CHARGE for his service! WOW thanks Shelby.

My father had a slogan that, back in the '50s, he had inscribed on the pencils that he had made, to give away to customers and vendors for his small business. It read -

"A satisfied customer is our best advertisement"

Obviously, this stands as true today, as it did back then, and all of your comments reinforce that slogan. It's about integrity and honesty. I, and the rest of you, respect the vendors that have provided these characteristics to the Forum members. You have listed them in the previous posts; I have personnaly used many of them; and I am grateful that they all exist for the benefit of all of us.

There is no doubt - Shelby, and his Elite Motors, are one of them. :thumbsup :thumbsup

Most certainly no offense. I looked at my profile - hard to believe I joined forum 6 1/2 yrs ago.
Time flies when you are having fun!

Agree that Shelby and all his crew (especially Eric) at Elite Autos are top notch during the sale and after. See my previously posted comments related to my starter problem and the service Shelby provided.

A very satisfied customer!

Ralphie, are those the pencils you sell standing on the corner with your dark sunglasses on?

Indy GT, your geography needs updating. Shelby Elite is in Arkansas, not Missouri.

Wow, you're right Frankie!

Thanks for the correction!

See you soon...

I am everywhere...(that's the wonder that is the Internet, lol). On a serious note, thanks for all the kind words, but the real thanks goes out to all of my wonderful customers. I must say that my Ford GT customers (most of them anyway) are very pleasant to deal with, do what they say and many have turned into good friends (not typically that way with other brands). The biggest thanks goes out to all you guys. I feel privileged to be in a business that I enjoy and have a good time working in. I also have a great staff and value and appreciate all of them!

shelby is definitely a unique phenomenon in his industry! all of the great reviews are well deserved! as the gts are getting older and more and more cars will be available for sale with "history" he would be the only one I would trust to buy from.
