IMO when it comes to exhaust this has to be one of the most subjective personal touch items one can tend to.

Is there performance to be found with any of the cat back exhaust; doubtful. I feel that they address the "she needs a bit more voice" market as well as the fact that when installing a system such as the AccuFab you remove a significant amount of weight off her arse. Then add to this a tremendous heat sink aka the muffler is removed from within the engine bay area which lowers the engine bay temperatures as such she will likely run stronger longer because the IAT does not receive the added heat reduced hence will not instruct the PCM to reduce her power levels.

Certainly the AccuFab is overall louder and much throatier at idle. When pulling through the gears her voice sounds more as the gal looks and then when exercising her hard she will scream however during normal driving and cruising her voice is nice and IMO causes no issues.

With the windows down you will hear more of the exhaust at idle however at speed the cabin remains pleasant.

Now as for droning; there are as many folks that will share that they experience some as there are those that enjoy the system with no issues at all hence my opeing comment about it being subjective.

I initially installed the AccuFab because I liked the sound, the mandrel bends, and how well it was put together; it is a no bling purpose built system at a modest price. The reason that I removed mine was because I elected to install long tube headers.

Hopefully I answered more questions than I created.

There will be many at the Rally as a perfect place to make a decission.

Thanks..for the advice!

Great advice this really helps!!! Billy

Just drove mine tonight for the first time with the x pipe installed. I would say its about twice as loud as stock. Some drone was noticeable at certain rpms, but not really to bad. It is louder at all times in the cabin as it should be being a straight pipe verses that big canister. The car seems smooth and sweet quiet, more ruff and racy louder. I'm sure the sound from outside fits the cars Ora much better!

I love my Accufab system. It really sounds sweet at startup when the motor comes to life. It's nice also to see the muffler out of the way of blocking the rear vents. It has to help in heat reduction. The increase sound in the cabin is more music than noise. Some droning at certain RPM but really nothing significant. :thumbsup :thumbsup

I have an Accufab X pipe.

It has zero performance gain that I can feel.

The cabin noise is quite a lot higher.

It drones at around 1,800-2,200 rpms.

It has a wonderful muscle car noise. It totally changes the carachter of the car. It feels faster because it is louder.

I have currently gone back to stock as I track the car annd in the UK most of the tracks have now stringent noise limits.

I miss the X-pipe though and although the drone was annoying and tiring on the highway and the cabin noise is a conversation killer it really fit the car.

I would buy it again.

BillyRay,

Quit wondering. Get your butt over to my home and drive my Accufab equipped Yellow GT. Whether you're inside the car, or outside the car, the Accufab exhaust gives the car an exotic sound it makes the hair stand up on the back of your neck if you're standing behind when it starts up. Running up through the gears those pipes produce a symphony of supercar sound. There is a drone at 80-85 mph in sixth gear. That is the only negative to the system. It's simple, maintenance free, all polished stainless steel, and masterfully constructed. It allows better airflow and shaves about 50 pounds off the ass end of your car. I've had one for two years now, I live in a state where keeping my catalytic converters is a requirement, and I have heard just about every system that exists. Knowing what I know now, the Accufab is still my exhaust system of choice.

PS-Hey, I'm closing in on 1000 posts!!!! :banana

993 is a magic number though....The last of the air cooled Porsches....

First of all, the Accufab XPipe really isn't a muffler because as far as I can tell, there's no muffler but however, of course the cross-over design does have some muffling effect by cancelling resonsnace from both cylinder banks.
How do I like the system? I LOVE IT. Love it so much that I am even reluctant to change anything else in the exhaust manifold and cats so that I can preserve the sound. I noticed more drone when the car still had the OEM supercharger but for whatever reason, there's less drone in the car now with the Whipple installed. It could be me getting used to the drone which is unlikely as drone as just get more and more tiring over time. Maybe with the Whipple, I don't have to lean on the gas pedal as much while freeway cruising and thus less drone. But if I entercount more drone than I like say cruising in 6th, then I just simply downshift to 5th or even 4th, then the RPM would go into the high 2K range and whatever drone there's, it will go away. What I love the most is the burbble and I let off the gas while curising slowly, the sound is faint, like kinda like thunder but from afar. Priceless.
Of course, it will help drop the engine temp. by about 15 to 20 degrees.
Does Accufab make an X Pipe for a Ford 4.6L engine? 'cause I have a Ford Sport-trac pickup that needs the same sound improvement. Hello John......

I have the Accufab and love it.

Well, if you decide to go Accufab, I was there today and they only have one in stock according to Donna.

Installing them 9-8-08

Boys.......I,ll let ya know the outcome!!!! BRay

Thanks Rich and Dennis

The GT Guys installed a Tune and pulley and Accufab exhaust on 9-8-08.
WOW....NICE...when you crack the exhaust this baby comes alive!!!!
Great job guys!!!!!!!!!!!!!! BillyRay

We were able to capture the sound of the XPipe pretty good up close and afar in this video. Never mind the spinning out.... :willy
