I have seen about 4-5 pics of the bumper delete. I am wondering what everyone had to do to get the exhaust tips to look right. I am just about sold on this mod.

Can you show us your rear and give us some tips on tips?

Is this something you could do yourself without issue? ... Not so sure I can stand to wait for the GT Guys to come my way. I have some vacation time and thought I would give the GT a few days at the Mod Spa.

What would be involved in returing it to stock later?

Ps... I am not interested in getting into the why not to issues. I have read and considered them. For me this works, if I can put her back to stock someday without too much drama.

bumper delete

I am planning on having it done as soon as I can. It looks so GT40 racer like! I would expect it to help some with the cooling & I am told by Shadowman that it can save around 40+ lbs! That, in itself, sold me on the mod. I'm not planning on returning back to stock so I won't save the parts. The only regret I have is that I lose my billboard space on the bumper! I love stickers!

The tips will depend on your exhaust system. Most of the ones in Indy had the Ford/Borla exhaust with nice tips. I'm not home, but we all got pamphlets on the upgrade. Looks easy to do yourself, the problem is, if you use the system other than the GT guys, you need to paint the body filler panel to match your car. Bony should have the info.

Here is my car taken the INDY RALLY, my kit was designed by THE GT GUYS...

Bony that really looks good !, the one piece screen does look OEM on there.

I take it those are the long tubes. That whole look with the angled tips is very hardcore racer:thumbsup . The Ricardo really stands out from that angle. Makes the car look like it means business.

Not sure I am ready to take the long tube plunge yet. But the screen design looks like it leaves lots of options open.

Looks like no tips at all

That right, just the tubes coming out and angles down, looks as bad as it sounds... thanks SHADOWMAN!:thumbsup

Looks outstanding!!!

These babies look so good with the bumper delete, really changes the character of the car, and makes it look more purpose built...

nobody worries about a rear end dinger?

I have lots of worries, but I am not concerened. It is not a daily driver for me. I try to be super careful as is. Now that does not count the other guy, But my Z06 vette does not have a rear bumper, nor does the Gallardo, F430, etc. They have bumpers under the skin, but the skin is what we seam to worry about.

I took off the bumper and started to wonder what it would protect. A parking lot minor scuff, yes it is worthwhile IMO. At 10mph or above I feel it is not going to prevent damage to the rear clip anyway.

I will take my chances.

Anyone else got some pics or tell us what exhaust you used and how to modify the tips. I have no spent anything on exhaust yet, so it's a chance to do it all in one project.

Show off her rear here:biggrin

Any insurance issues with no rear bumper?

I bought the bumper delete during the Indy Race from George Huisman at Classic Design Concepts. Just got it painted to match the Heritage Livery car, picking up the panel tonight. I'm waiting for my Accufab X-pipe to come it before I mount it. I'll post pictures as soon as it is on. I wanted the Heritage to look more like a race car, this will do the trick.

Tim,

Am looking forward to seeing the finished product on your GT.

Should be nice.:thumbsup

Fred,

I'll post some pics. However, you need to get back to work. It's 2:20 PM in the afternoon, on a work-day. What are you doing hanging out on the GT Forum?:cheers

Same as you !!:lol :lol :lol

Here is a picture of the arse of my gal.......

Certainly the issues surrounding the converting to a rear bumper delete remains a subjective one however I absolutely enjoy the new look which is akin to the gals of days gone past. This design is offered by The GT Guys and appears and installs as OEM.

The exhaust as installed on Bony and my gal is the Stainless Works full header and small metal bed cat system with a modified tail pipe section to further accent the exhaust exiting design on the gals of days gone past that had the over the engine headers.

FYI: the rear tip section is now a standard part number with Stainless Works.

Takes care

I stay out of neighborhoods full of Greeks and Arabs:lol

Looking at the Indy Event pics I notice a Tungsten Car with the bumper delete. But it looks a tad different with a panel across the top painted body color, a custom screen and some sort of surround for the exhaust. The car has Custom wheels with natural centers with FGT center cap and polished lip.

Anyone know who's car that is ? I would like to see a straight on rear shot and some details on the panel, screen and surround. Very sweet looking Tungsten car.

That bumper delete was done by "www.ClassicDesignConcepts.com"

I got on their web site and did not find any photos. They had brochures by that car all the time and I took a couple. That's where I got the web address. They called it the Ford GT "Sweet Ass" bumper delete kit. $3895 for the kit or $4795 installed with paint included. They are located in Novi, Michigan, phone-1-866-624-7997. I'll take a photo of the brochure and try to post that.
