Ford GT Rally 2007

Being in Florida, I'm not anxious to go all the way to CA, but it's only fair to do the West cost. I'd like to book passage with Florida Chris now! :biggrin

Saleen did a great job and really took car of us, sold some cars too I hear, so that sounds great. There is no reason we can't drive 100 miles to get somewhere, so long as we all have maps and know where to go.

Back to detroit at the 10,25,50 year reunions :thumbsup

I like Vegas, but I think the group would disappear into the casinos. Best to do it somewhere that keeps the group together. One of the things I enjoyed about this trip was being able to hop on the elevator, at any time, and find someone to chat with.

We'll get an official poll on this once enough ideas have been thrown around.

My first reaction is to say California, where we can get the most number of owners and there is the most to do (i.e tracks, Saleen, the PCH, etc). Also, because I did enough granny-style driving to last me a lifetime on this one. Dearborn will be fine down the road, but we've done all there is to do at this time.

Florida, Texas, Arizona, Indy, etc, are all viable options and once we get a list of locations everyone is amenable to, we can throw them in the drawing and randomly select where we're going. I think Vegas would be good as well, but we should probably wait a year or two on that one.

Don't forget... if we are lucky enough to have Mr. Borla as a sponsor again... his factory is in southern California... Maybe a tour of his facility? Don't forget to send them a thank you... It will go a LONG WAY!

My vote is to put the '07 rally in whatever city the guys that are willing to work on it are located.

If you choose Irvine I can set up a tour at Gurneys' shop and possibly lunch as well with Dan, Phil Remington and others.

How about a lunch-dinner at the PETERSEN MUSUEM? Say the word... :biggrin
No doubt a stop at the Nettercut Musuem and Borla's Plant should be an objective :cheers

I vote for Saleen in Irvine, road trip to Shelby in Vegas (get some track time on the road course outside the oval) ,then off to Scottsdale for the Barrett Jackson Auction. Weather might not be the best, but it would be fun.

Steve,
Great idea. We could invite all of the drivers who raced at LeMans and see who shows up. Should make for some great stories.

I would definitely drive the GT to California!

If you come back to the Dearborn area for a meet in a year or 2 we could get the Ford Motorsports Enthusiast group involved and do the event the weekend of the Dream Cruise.

FME rents Milan Dragway the Thursday before the cruise and we could attend that on Thursday night. Have a contest for stock and modded cars with street tires?

We could also rent a local road course, borrow the Ford track, or have an autox competition and have an actual Race Car driver like Audrey Zavodsky and other famous Ford related racers on hand to give instruction. There are several Ford National Autox Champions we could use. Contest for stock and modded cars with street tires?

We could visit Saleen again and see the Saleen products that they will be building at that time or......We could go to an actual Ford Assembly plant, get a tour and see how mass production of automobiles is done. The Mustang plant in Flatrock would be good or the Rouge Plant.

Then for the Woodward Dream Cruise on Saturday we could have a section reserved for us just as the FME group does "Mustang Alley" for the Mustangs during the Woodward Dream Cruise.

I know someone said Dearborn 'been there done that' but there's much more that can be done when there's more time to plan.

I vote for so cal I would be more than willing to set up anything that needs done. And many other members have contacts here already.
Just to throw a few more ideas into the fire. There are 2 tracks close by Irwandale and california speedway We could get a couple professional drivers to teach us a thing or two While several people on the forum do have track time, I think it would be great to have a day at the track with a pro.(maybe tim can show us some stunt driving :thumbsup ) and ( piko joe needs 2 instructors :willy ) Also there are no rules that say we have to stay in one town. How about saleen, borola, peterson museum, etc. in L.A..Then cap it off with a road trip to vegas on the last day to shelby's ? :cheers

OK Todd, you're in charge. Get us a tarck day, a tour of
Saleen and a Ford sponsor

AWSUM GT,

If you set it up, we will come! Any news on the National GT Cruise on the West Coast? I kinda like the Monterey Penisula, or Napa. George wencal always have a So Cal GT cruise to Saleen.

:cheers
