Not too expensive, but much more that plywood. I'm guess a laminated wood product impregnated with epoxy resins.

If it was a hardwood plywood from the local lumber store & you sold it to racers you would call it something else & sell it for more (don't forget you also get a cool sticker with the racer's "version"). A good hardwood plywood is bonded under pressure & is the same thing.
