Applications Update

Do you think, as a past owner and influential person, Jeremy Clarkson will get one? :lol

How about the guy that runs on the NASA runway in FL?

Those are some astonishing numbers, especially when you factor in the criteria that has been placed on the applicants, such as how many GT's one owns and how many miles they are driven etc. At least 3500 of the 7000 do not have a GT or most likely never have, deduct the VIP folks out of the equation and now you have approximately three thousand of those applicants that do not meet the most important of the criteria Ford is looking for. In my opinion Ford is going to quota the cars, a certain portion to higher profile customers and executives and the (greater) balance of cars to loyal Ford customer/enthusiast which more matches the Ford buyer demographic. Did you just come into this world with the means to buy a GT or maybe two, or did you work and sacrifice and apply elbow grease to get where you are to get your GT. Ford wants as many of the new GT's into the hands of loyal qualified Ford fans as possible.

I think it is a fair guess that a big chunk were submitted by nit wits like me who have no chance of being picked and couldn't afford the car if they did.

According to the "fine print", the application process is for 150 GT's a year, for two years. There has been NO mention of additional units being sold that are not part of the application car program. So there must be a very special friends and family list. That I am not on!

I just want to take a minute to say that there is very, very little to read into this fine print.

This is obviously false information. Everyone knows RED is THE color.

Im just happy they are not offering a gulf edition :)

We don't yet know they aren't. I'd guess Ford would rather celebrate the 66 and 67 wins, though, if they were to do commemorative editions.

Regardless of the color scheme used, the front doesn't seem to want to take such a paint scheme as well as the original or 05/06. I keep looking at it to figure out how side stripes would go on, but those don't work either.

Nevertheless, there are more years beyond where they could do something.

I think you should of had to put 100K wire to complete app. Then lets see how many real apps they have. Any even a 16 year old can fill out a app even if they never owned a car let alone a GT.

I agree... There was already a post from a spectator that filled out the application even though they didn't have the money to purchase even if they were chosen... Would have made the application process go a bit quicker.

Not sure I agree... I think this concept looks great...

Now that is an interesting thought. Maybe not $100K, but something ($10K?)

Would also give the gentlemen over on the F chat something more to gripe about.

IMO ford will make the color In 2018 matching this years race car not the gulf of the 60s

I don't think Mortals like us will be able to acquire the car :biggrin

I think it is possible we won't be asked for a deposit , except maybe to the delivering dealer way down the line.

I agree that many of the early 7000 applicants are likely from dreamers and application thrillseekers. Proof of ownership of a GT at least ensures that applicants are likely for real

I think this might be a good start towards a Gulf heritage paint job. Maybe put the front curve a bit closer towards the headlights. Maybe even think about not letting the stripe go straight over the roof towards the rear, but somehow to split up and go over the wings into the buttrets.

The kids in Forza do some good stuff:

Road car fascia looks better than race car fascia with that scheme on it.

I hope those two options are the "Special Editions"

From a thread last year. Really like the Holman Moody cars.
