Delivery miles Heritage at mecum auction

More than a few forum members were at Mecum today. Unbelievable what happened. Our cars just went up in value for now. The tungsten will be worth more tomorrow. The buyer paid $410,400 if it's 8%. Reserve was at $350K

Ed,

How may bidders were in the game in the mid $300k?

I watched this and was impressed to say the least. Told my 20 year old son who was in the pool with his girlfriend that a guy just sold a 6 mile Heritage at Mecum and asked him what he thought it went for. He guessed $350,000. Pretty good.

BTW, did anyone ever get a Heritge at MSRP?

In late 2006 - early 2007 some genius, ie me, turned one down for $10k under sticker. Oh well

Awesome sale! I guess if you keep these cars in the wrapper and keep 'em well maintained over time, they really are worth a pretty penny. Guess some cars are not such a bad investment after all, contrary to what was posted here several pages back. Can't wait to see what these cars fetch in 15 years from now...

I was wondering how long it would take you to mention "wrapper" again. :lol

What impressed me was the excitement that took place when it hit the block. There were more than just a couple bidders still in the hunt when it went past $250 . Great sale for all. Congratulations to Shelby and his crew. He really had a hard time keeping that grin under control during the sale then completely gave it up. Good luck on your car tomorrow. This sale made my day.

I am glad that Ed Sims and I made it over to see this sale. I feel sorry for Shelby not getting the car. We were sitting to the left of the guy who bought it. His wife was pushing the bid more than he was is what it looked like to me.

Good news for all Ford GT owners, today's auction confirmed the continued collectibility of our cars. The new owner may have to wait some time for the market to catch up with his purchase price and I suspect there may be a little buyer's remorse in the morning. Great news for the rest of us.

I would have loved to have won the bid, but someone wanted it much worse than I. I know the guy that bought it and am happy for him. Definitely a huge number on that car.

I thought you were the seller? :confused

No, I was bidding on the car...

I was wrong, just watched the replay and there was no wife in involved.

Just watched the replay as well, winner looked ready to keep going. Amazing!

Who was the owner, a forum member?

Watched the replay. Very exciting. That's what I call validation!

No Ferrari 458 will ever sell for $350K

While GTs will

Makes u want to buy another or at least a salvage

How can it still have the original 1969 battery and still run without jumper cables?

Amazing how much excitement this car generates after being out of production only a short time. I let kids sit in my car all the time and it is really nice to see how genuinely proud they are that it is Made in the U.S.A. Best of all, kids think American cars are cool again.

Must have had a really good battery tender. :)

Is there a replay on the web? Link? Or...when will it be repeated on Velocity?

Edit: Found it. Was that Marv bidding for a customer?
