In Sausalito for a wedding this weekend. Weather is amazing. Great times.

Wife wants to move out. Not sure I can afford it! :biggrin

Please don't lump us all together. I'm 3 hours from the coast, routinely 20-30 degrees hotter than the rest of CA, and there's a constant eau'd manure in the air. That and I still get to pay the same taxes and am subject to the same ridiculous laws as the rest of the state.....what was my point again??? Oh, I need to get OUT of this hellhole.

Come to Florida Ed. No state income taxes here. Our only downside is that it's basically pancake flat.

My folks have a place there (not coastal), Ernie. Was never a big fan of the humidity. The flatness I wouldn't mind. What's the state of tort reform in FL? Last time I checked, it wasn't very favorable.

Look into the TAX PICTURE first. It's likely you'd then prefer Alaska in January to Cali.

Are you saying that mal-practice premiums are higher in FL than CA?

don't forget the hurricanes!!

give texas a chance. great tort reform (prop 12) my malpractice is declining annually and is 1/3 of what i paid in missouri. no state income taxes and good weather property taxes are a bit steep but hey, they have to generate revenue somewhere.....

I don't know. Likely not, but obviously I have to take into account other factors besides malpractice rates.

My FIRST choice if I ever manage to get out if here! Austin or Houston, please!

RE: Texas - Houston is WAY too humid for me. I could live with Dallas but Austin would be my first choice.

Should have stayed in Texas. Florida not doc friendly although weather on the west coast nice

Just broke 70 degrees in Newport today

It's 40-60 Jan-April often....

A year ago to the day I did an ironman in Houston. The humidity there was by far worse than we have it here in south fla. this is a business friendly state. You need to put everything in the scale and see what things matter most to you. I will warn you though. I haven't ever found Tri tip so that you might miss.

My worst flight in my life was leaving Houston in the summer time, stuck on the runway for 1+ hrs packed like sardines, with no ventilation (a/c) at all, sweat just poured down my face with the loud speakers say "all passengers must remain in their seat with seat belts on!"

Haha. I'm sure we could find some tri tip in all of FL.
The heat and humidity of Texas is definitely a factor to consider. I'm no stranger to either having lived in NY, DC, and Phoenix. Every place is a compromise. Well, that is unless you're Kayvan who obviously lives in a multimillion dollar Newport Beach mansion with a steady stream of scantily clad ladies at his beck and call....

I'm all over moving the family to Texas next year. Austin or Dallas. I can't wait.
