2 full days of approximately 1/2 mile side-to-side roll-on runs on an airfield in the middle-of-nowhere Central California. I made it for day #2 today. Small contingent of Ford GT's on hand including Ray Hofman's yellow GT.

Yeeeeowza.

Two other GT's on hand. Red one belonging to member "Greg-TT". Not sure if the other owner is on the forum. Twin turbo/nitrous setup.

Hopefully Ray and Greg will post up some on/in-car footage. I know I saw several Go-Pro's plastered on at least Greg's car:)

Since it is in Colinga, any cow odors?

So, you're familiar with our quaint part of California?:lol There was a hint of it early in the morning:wink

I did go to Harris Ranch afterwards and had a big steak:biggrin

Unless I am stopping at Harris Ranch I usual drive through Colinga as fast as a can.

details on the UGR car that had and "off"?

Ray said it was an 08 SL that narrowly missed clipping that TT FGT. Said he broke a rim going off roading. He did say the GT was ahead at the time.

Sounded like there was a lot of guys that didn't know what they were doing or a bad surface based on the number of spinouts.

Yes, was an SL. I know of the owner (don't know personally), but out of respect won't say who. I'm sure that info along with pics and video will be over the Internet shortly.
Owner said he shifted into 3rd and next thing he knew he was sideways and into the dirt.
As far as the wheel, that is actually false. Tire broke the bead. Put a bit of air into it and it popped right back on. Los of dirt and debris in the undercarriage but surprisingly didn't look like any major damage.
Most importantly, no one was hurt.

It is Coalinga not Colinga, comes from the SP railroad calling that area coaling station A in the early days of railroading in California. I too try to avoid the area if at all possible, I did not know that they had an Airport.

Sorry about the mis-spelling. I tend to go so fast through the area, it is hard to read the signs. Looking more for the planes and red lights :lol

Thanks for the quick update Ed. It was nice seeing you again although we didn't get to talk much. :frown

It was great event organized by a great group of people. Did have a few off-road incidents however the entire event went smooth without much delays.

I have a ton of videos I have to go through. Maxed out 3 gopros with 16GB will take some time to edit :frown

As Ed stated above there were 3 GTs at the event. That famous yellow GT which belongs to Ray H. has rumored 2000+whp :eek

He came to do some test runs for an upcoming 1mi event. He didn't race anyone.

The black TT FGT is owned by a good friend of mine and he is not a member here. He also has a whippled gulf GT he road races.

That car has gen 1 heffner TT set up along with a recently added 150 shot nitrous set up to eliminate initial turbo lag.

He was having traction issue so he ended up not using nitrous except when he was trying to break 200mph in solo passes.

Even when he raced that 1000whp 69 camaro, he was at 1000whp on race gas tune, not 1200whp. One of the reason I don't believe many youtube description.

Another reason I love FGT is the car is bullet proof even at 1000whp level. When people saw TT FGT doing 40+ passes at 1000whp without any single hiccups, they show nothing but respect in awe.

As for my car, it did not fare too well against others since most people jumped. It seemed like they wanted videos of their underpowered car beating whippled FGT. :biggrin

To me, going all out on the airstrip with a bunch of cool friends is much more fun than win or loosing. :cheers

Will update with more video footage :wink

Great seeing and chatting with you as well, Greg! And again, a million thanks for offering to let me take the car for a spin. Wish I could have stuck around longer, but I have a sick toddler and a very pregnant wife at home that I couldn't leave for the entire day. Look forward to the vids!

That is one dirty sounding runway.

I know the owner of the UGR car.. he's a very seasoned driver.... said it was a very slick surface - at least for cars at his power level (1200whp+)

Update: Saw UGR car last night.. no damage, no broken wheel - just dirty.

Traction control would have been nice!
