Motor City Baby

I like your signature...is it a reference to Ted??

The actual dream cruise sucks at this point. I make my mandatory one-lap and back, but the days leading up to the cruise are WAY better. The Dream Cruise itself should be called the "Dream of 10,000 Daily Driver Stop and Go Traffic Jam Sort of Cruise a Couple Hundred Yards Over The Course Of 10 Miles Cruise". I was stopped near 14 mile on Saturday and an entire batch of cars came south through the light and not a single one was a classic/muscle/etc. Alot of these guys can't cruise anymore because the DD traffic makes the stop and go so bad that they'd surely overheat in 5 minutes.

I'm all for spectatin, but when the drunks in the homemade tarp hot tubs in the back of the pickup outnumber the notable rides, they gotta do something for the actual day. I live 30 seconds from Woodward so it's no big deal for me, but I'd be annoyed if I dragged my 63 SWC from Kansas and ended up stuck between an Aerostar, a Civic and a Durango for the bulk of the ride.

Good eye. That's Francesca in there.

The fox 5.0 on the other side illustrates my problem. Taurus Wagon, Grand Caravan, what looks like a Sentra. That's a hot line up :lol

Yeah I saw that picture and was pretty sure that was your wife in the passenger seat.

There will be a "dream cruise" this October in Daytona Beach. This be the first year I go. The weather is generally very good in October in Daytona.

Car-cruise, car-show etiquette

Kingman, regarding my signature, it's not intentionally Ted-like, just a casual reference to my upbringing and auto-industry heritage (3rd generation, representing all of the Big Three... not unusual here in Detroit).

Dave, I have to agree with you regarding the issue of too many daily drivers on Saturday, which is why we left the GT in the garage that day. The chance of someone cracking our fender while gawking at ours or any other attention-grabbing set of wheels is too high to take the chance.
Tuesday night was nice, though, as was Friday. Traffic was lighter (although not by much on Friday) and more "show-car" concentrated.
Any thoughts on a solution, or even slight alleviation to the problem? I've been thinking about producing a short film-piece about car-show etiquette; car-cruise etiquette could be a thought, as well. This may not relate directly to the number of daily drivers involved, but perhaps if it were done right, a message could be sent.

Anyone with thoughts regarding this subject, feel free to PM me or post. I would love to hear about your pet peeves and concerns regarding folks' behavior in and around your ride.

Thanks, Trish

The odds are small, but, maybe that could enlighten those w/o any.

On Thursday night it was thousands of some really cool cars almost no DD in the mix. Angelo Giampatroni, John Vermeersch and George Delorean said it has been bumper to bumper cool cars since Monday:eek

And speaking of DBK........ Torrie I think that is the first time I have read Dave & Wife in the same post since he got married.:rofl
