Is it all my imagination, or was there a documentary a couple of years ago all about bringing the GT to production? I remember lots of interviews with the project team, angst over the door configuration, etc, etc. I've searched all over the internet to find a dvd of this, but all I can get is the 'Rides' episode about the failed Cobra re-hash, project 'Daisy'. Surely there was a project 'petunia' documentary? Anyone know where I can get a copy?

+1 I saw this also. But I couldn't find it when I wanted to show someone.

Rebuilding a Race Car Legend (2004)

It was put out by the Discovery Channel. I don't think they sell it anymore....though you can rent it from Netflix

And forget to return it...:rofl:rofl:rofl

Thanks King...put my daughter's Netflix account to work :thumbsup

There is also "THE FORD GT STORY" Produced by Duke
productions www.dukevideo.com
Also Rich Roback has a video of the Gts being assembled at the Wixom plant (gt tech)

Thanks for the link. Didn't know this existed.

Can we buy a copy of the assemblies at the plant somehow from Rich?

I contacted Discovery Channel but haven't had any luck with purchasing a copy. The DVD doesn't exist in the online store. So I was told to call this number and then that department told me to call this other number. It seems that noone at Discovery Channel knows how to get me a copy. :confused

I wonder if Netflix ships DVD's to Canada? :wink

You can usually find them on ebay!!

of course you could always get a trial issue of "any DVD" and "Clone DVD" software from slysoft (google it) and then, once the Netflix version arrives, hey presto, a copy will miraclulously be created for your private use forever. I'll let everyone know how easy and successful this software is once I've tried it.

There's literally no difference between this and walking into a Blockbuster or Wal-mart and slipping the DVD into your pocket and walking out. Stealing is stealing. I don't appreciate reading / bragging about it here.

It's titled "Rebuilding A Race Car Legend". Cost ~ $25.

What I meant to say is if you forget to return it, you'll still have to pay full price for a used DVD.

Where can one purchase it on DVD?

Hey Guy

happy to buy it - just tell me where and how, 'cos I've had zero success trying to locate it. Otherwise, necessity is the mother of invention.

Yes Rich Roback will sell you one .

How do we get in touch with Rich?

Out of production-reproduction.

Gentlemen,

I wouldn't be quite so harsh here as stealing merchandise from a Wal-Mart involves economic damage and results in a genuine financial loss. The DVD in question appears to have been taken out of production permanently and is unavailable for new purchase at any price. Let me point out that many of the parts that will be required to keep our cars on the road or to repair them after any body damage are also permanently out of production. Like that DVD, many of us will be reproducing parts that the the Ford Motor Company has designed and probably owns the rights to. We are currently reproducing billet clamshell vents and side vents that are virtual exact copies (except material) of a part that the Ford Motor Company designed. Are we stealing?

If that DVD (or Genuine Ford Parts) are available, I'm right there with you. Reproducing them is stealing. But once they're permanently out of production, no economic damage ensues when one makes a copy. And at least as regards our cars, unless we are willing to make those copies, the Ford GT will soon become a static display. At least that's my take on it.
