Chris,

I know Rich and Dennis have use of my garage for the week prior. I emailed Chip and would like to host a drive from Dallas to the Rally. I can setup a visit to a collection up here and can hold some trailers for people as well.

Let me know if you guys are interested and we can put it together for a cruise start from Dallas.

Matt

Matt-
I would be interested in this if you want to put something together. A 200 mile jaunt from Dallas to Austin for us Easterners is more palatible than a 995 mile trip to Scottsdale and then 995 miles back to Austin.
Let us know.....

Fly-by

The team from Copenhagen (Anders & Soeren) will be there. :biggrin:banana:willy

Any good ideas on car options would be appreciated. Probably fly in to Scottsdale directly from Europe and then home from Dallas.

See you
:cheers

Agreed! My daughter and I drove from our home 45 minutes N of Austin to Tim Cantwell's in N Scottsdale (about 1070 miles). Left at daybreak and got there at dark in time to enjoy a burger and friends. I don't recall the exact hours:wink, but I'm sure we did not break any laws of man or nature:thumbsup. As OJ would say.....if I HAD driven from Texas to Scottsdale, I COULD have done it in 13-14 hrs....,not saying I DID of course:biggrin!

StormCat, DBTGT and Mr. Wolf are missing, too. Looks like phone calls are in order. FlorIdaho too.

Rally IV Coooooooooooool! I will miss our falling comrade "Bony" This time my car will be there no bumming ridings "Thanks Gordon" . It was great jumping ride to ride but this time I will not be taken the pictures! Another good time and in a great place. In Texas all parties are "Big". CW is our guest room ready!

Maybe, Jeff, but even Chip's drive from Scottsdale is not making it in one day. According to Chip's post they are spending the nite in transit. The logistics of bag transportation and 2K miles of extra driving just does not workout this year.
Besides I would like to see Dallas and what Matt can come up with. Nothing wrong with trying new options...

Perhaps if enough Dallas interest, the two pre-event "teams" could meet up somewhere and drive in together.

You know an East meets West get together for a united drive in....!

Indy, I'm just making a suggestion here, but if there are east coasters coming that have trailers or a group like the Florida guys hopping their cars in a big rig, you should drop your rigs in Sealy at Hennessey's place and drive the 100 or so miles from there. Downtown Austin is very tight and there will be no place in the immediate vicinity to drop trailers. Cody and the guys at A.R.T have room for about 10 trailers and they are just outside of town. Either way, that will be a registration form question and we'll work otu storage for everyone.

Bill,
totally understand my friend. anything beyond 600-700 is a very long day.

And the purpose of the whole Rally is to meet and re-meet our fellow GT addicts! :cheers:cheers:cheers:cheers

Dave,
I am fine with that. Although (showing my ignorance) where is Sealy? 100 miles outside of Dallas?
Frank and I are going to organize a tractor trailer shipper from the midwest just like Brian is doing from South Florida. Hope to get 5/6 GT's signed up and heading toward Texas.
If acceptable to all owners, we could off load at Dallas, enjoy Matt's hospitality in his area drive the 200 miles down to Austin for the rally and have the cars picked up in Austin for transport back to the midwest.
Early phase of planning and all things are flexible. If some owners do not want to stop in Dallas the transporter needs to go to Austin anyway where these cars could be unloaded for the arriving owners for the Wed-Sat rally event.
This will be fun as it always is and thanks again for all the effort you go to making these events better and better each year!

I think Matt has lots of room for trailers at his place but if it gets tights I have 2 acres of land we can store them on also.

I'll start a thread today.

We can have a great lunch and I have a car collection up here with lots of originals in it..Cobra's, GT40's and others that we can get a tour of.

I have about 3 acres so parking trailers won't be a problem. If its a big rig I will need to know and make some arrangements to use one of our shopping centers with security. Both the Westin and Hilton are less than a mile away and I can fit about 15 cars at my house if needed, thats inside.

I know we have about 5 people from Dallas that will go so the more the merrier.

Matt

Sealy, Texas is about 50 miles west of Houston on the way to Austin on I-10 West. John has a large ficility with lots of room for Truck and Trailer parking and his facility is exactly 108 miles from the Hotel in Austin. The 4-seasons Hotel in Austin has underground parking for the GT's. Tomy
