07-11-2007: After breakfast, I left the Trading Post, heading west on SR 64 to Grand Canyon National Park, stopping to take a few pictures along the way, then south on SR 64 to Williams. Through Williams, I drove the short section of Historic US 66, then got on I-40 and headed west to Ash Fork, taking the (H) US 66 through the town. Back on I-40 for 5 miles, and then on (H) US 66 through Seligman and Peach Springs all the way to Kingman, where I stopped to get an ice cream cone and take some pictures of the old Santa Fe “Northern” 4-8-4 steam engine in the park there.
I continued out of town on (H) US 66 to McConnico, then got back on the westbound I-40 to the California border. About 3 miles south of Needles, I got on another section of (H) US 66 through town, back to I-40 and west to the US 95 turnoff (also another (H) US 66) to Arrowhead Junction and continued on 66 for about 110 miles through Goffs, Fenner, Essex, Chambliss, Amboy to Ludlow, where I rejoined I-40 to Barstow. Then, I went south on I-15 to SR 210, west to Haven Avenue, north to Vista Grove Street, to Leanne’s house on the corner at xxxx xxxxx xxxxxxxxxx Place. Near Victorville, I was stopped by a California Highway Patrolman, who gave me a ticket for no rear license plate, but signed off the infraction when he saw that I had the plates with me coming back from the track. Unfortunately, he forgot to give me back my license, but upon calling their office and his subsequent return call, I found out that he still had it, and would have it kept in the office for me to pick up in the morning. The odometer reading upon arrival at Leanne’s house was 5833.8 miles. (Δ = 563.3 miles)
