Ford GT Fire system

We've always said that about you, Bruce. :biggrin OK, so you're down for the Halon system and the rear bumper delete, right? :eek

Kendall,
I'm not interested in the delete alone. But if I can pick up more storage space and have a carbon fiber rear diffuser to finish off the rear of the car, then I'll consider it.

Sounds like a challenge for Kendall. You could leave the brackets and attach a thin truck tool box to them instead of the bumper for all your race gear. Sounds silly as x8&%%, but it could be done. Not much worse than pulling a track gear trailer with the GT.

Kendall, put me down for one as well. Can we get it installed when we do fluid changes? Please pm or call....

What is the maintenance required, or maintenance interval for this system?

Has anyone had to use their system yet in a Ford GT?

Thanks, Randy

Randy, it is in both my cars. The GT Guys installed them when they had the cars. I'm not sure on the maintenance issue. I just check the guage when the hood is up. You probably didn't notice it because the bottles are painted the same color as the car.

There is no maintenance, just check the guage on the bottle form to time to make sure it's in the green zone. Can send back to SafeCraft for refill

Thanks Frank and Rick. I think I missed the system, since there is so much wonderful stuff to look at in and around your GTX-1.

I have decided that I am going to get the fire suppression system from Kendall for piece of mind.

Hey Randy, if you need a tag along let me know. It will give me an excuse to stretch her legs.

Do it Randy. Kendall installed the rigid system in mine a couple years back and the installation is OEM like.

I agree Randy, just do it. I'm SO happy with mine. So nicely integrated, that people think it's stock. Some peace of mind http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/showthread.php?t=15568 and it looks really cool too!! :thumbsup

Syco, I don't think they make it any other way now, but in the beginning, you had to choose the bottle with the shutoff valve. Make sure you check and have this feature. This way you can remove the bottle at any time.

Kendall w/ Cooltech installed the engine compartment fire supression system on our GT also and it looks as if OEM. Very nice looking system.

If you have a tranny cooler, make sure you know which one you have becasue the mounting brackets are different.

The systems are available as a sealed system or with a manual valve; the system that I designed requires a manual valve for integration and then allows IMO for ease of future service. Furthermore the system that I designed integrates with the Ford Racing transaxle cooler whereas Kendall's can either integrate with his transaxle cooler or as a standalone system.

The primary difference between the systems is that the one I designed uses hard stainless steel lines whereas Kendall's uses stainless steel flex hoses; in the end both systems provide the same level of protection with styling differences remaining a subjective issue.

Having choices is a good thing
