Rally III News - Who's Coming?

I e-mailed some of our Mark IV members the other day to get feedback on a Rally III idea. Based on the responses, I think we have a location.

The other day I talked to a forum member who has long been friends with Carroll Shelby. During a recent conversation, Carroll inquired how the group was and what had been going on in the community. He was very happy to be a part of Rally II in Newport Beach. After discussion, Carroll offered that if we ever ran an event in Las Vegas, he'd throw us a heck of a party at SAI.

There had been a lot of discussion about moving Rally III eastward after doing Newport Beach in 07. While I agree with this sentiment, given the unique opportunity available I think it is a no brainer to seize the day and take the chance to bring our Ford GT's to Las Vegas and Shelby Automotive in 2008. Texas, Florida, etc, will always be there. So will Las Vegas, but not with Carroll at the helm. Add in the weather, the variety of good local roads to travel, and this looks like another killer Ford GT Forum event.

I'm going to LV for Carroll's 85th(!) Birthday Bash on January 11th to meet with Amy Boylan and discuss planning for an event at their facility. That week, we should have dates and details of Ford GT Rally III - Las Vegas.

Me too. Detroit to Newport in an F-150 towing a trailer and GT in under 40 hours. Vegas will be a piece of cake. :biggrin

Can we plan a caravan route, so maybe I can organise the east coasters, and hook up with others along the way? :thumbsup as this will be far BUT A GOOD CLEAN RUN! What dates / months are we looking at my friends? DO YOU NEED A DEAN MARTIN TYPE M.C. :biggrin GTJOEY 1314

I guess I'll road trip with Spirit. It will be his turn to get in trouble with the cops. I'm going to be there in early June anyway. Dates?

The August automotive calendar is really full and July would be pretty hot, so we're thinking September. Need to make sure that jives with the SAI schedule.

Outstanding venue!

Really difficult to top the first two events, but with the CS tie-in, Ford marketing may even 'cave-in' and invest a bit...

Dave and All.....Sounds like a good plan. I like the timing of Mid/late September. It is after Labor Day, Woodward Cruise etc. I was hoping for a shorter 'pull' this year, but given the opportunity with Shelby etc, my trailer is ready, I have my new F-150 and Margaret, Megan and I are "IN".

Hopefully we can get more East 'siders' and Ford Motor VP's (current and Retired" who own GT's to attend. Dave - I would be willing to work with you on this....
