Yet another one!

It's amazing what some people on Ebay will try to get away with.. I've got some pictures of this car right after it was wrecked in FL. Per Black 907's comments I'm sure this car was not rebuilt and wrecked a second time in such a short time but who knows? It's does look better that it did after the accident in FL? But maybe some one is trying to hide how bad the damage was ?? Buyer beware !!

It is tipycal for some dealers that buy just wrecks at Insurance auctions, buy them to clean up a little, and mask the real damage hoping for someone to purchase that car sight unseen, as many still do. I blame the Insurance companies that total a car, then send them to their auctions to recoop what ever they can to justify the bottom line. Then, when this car is fixed, resold to a nonsuspecting buyer, the Insurance companies refuse to pay a second loss, or probably in court trying to pay less than the actual damages. I blame the Insurance system in this country that allows a car to be deemed a Total, yet, can sell it only to have it haunt them again.

I believe that Fla. and Ca. have adopted a system that once the car has been Totalled, it cannot be registered in that state ever again. Dealers get around this by registering the car in another state, then bring it back.

Something should be done about these loop holes....all totalled cars should be marked FOR PARTS ONLY......

My 2 cents

Doesn't Carfax record a savage title? How would that ever get washed away. Now if the repairer modified the VIN (illegal) then all bets are off. However the modified VIN would either have no Carfax record, or be a clone of another car.

Carfax

CARFAX does record a salvage title - IF the information gets to them. You'd be surprised how many wrecked GT's have shown up on e-Bay, that CARFAX shows a "clean" title for. Have also seen an instance where someone applied for a "duplicate title" for a car that had been recorderd as totalled and issued a "salvage title". Don't know if the guy planned to fix and sell the original car, or go and steal a good one, and swap the tags & title.

Like Bony says...always get a PPI...well worth the expense.

I also recommend "Agreed Value" insurance, along with having current pictures and a professional appraisal of your car on file with your insurance company. I get the appraisals on my cars updated every other year. I've had to referee a few of these insurance deals, and it goes down a LOT better (and more likely in your favor) when you have good photographs and all your paperwork together and on record with your insurance company.

regards,

Jeff

Here's some photos ..

Of the original wrecked condition. As you can see the windshield was gone !! So who knows where the Hennessey windshield came from ? Maybe another wreck ?? But this car did have 700 hp at the crank so I guess that part is true !!!!...:biggrin

It just makes one SICK lookin' at these photos...:ack

Well, at least the plastic clamshell vents look like they're in good sheape. :thumbsup

The funny thing is that the vents had just been painted and replaced due to the famous warping..Brian, your pictures are much better than mine..I cried even louder..that car was very special with upgrades as well. Glad to be alive and driving a GT once again..although lately there are several posts of all black cars totalled..Don't learn my lesson the hard way..PEOPLE DRIVE LIKE IDIOTS..BE AWARE. I think most of us know that..please be extra careful..already had some moron switching lanes on me..good thing my driving style anticipated this..the jerk stated that he did not see me right next to him..speaking on a cell phone....but loved the car..hey thanks alot for not totalling my new one...

GT'D for life.....

I just wrecked a black GT. I bought a blue one so I wouldnt have to keep lookin gat pictures of my car all beat to hell. Stop doing this to me!!!

Fess up! Yew replaced your black GT with a BLUE one 'cause you found out all the fastest engines really were put into them!

No, Fubar got a blue one because you can still buy them. Most of the black ones unfortunately have be crashing!

Common practice from shady dealers, they'll buy the car from one salvage auction, fix it a little to make the damage look less serious, maybe pop in a windshield then take it to another insurance auction and resell it. Here are pictures from when it came into the salvage auction on 7/27/07 then sold at auction on 9/26/07. The car got a windshield, some stickers and some panels beaten out a little bit as well as getting the tires remounted, throw it back in the auction and make a quick profit. The real loser is the poor guy who buys this car thinking its an "easy" fix.

Excuse me. I have to go puke... :ack

Sorry. :frown I'm also seeing lots of gt's around with paint/body work. Are there any clean ones left?! :ack (other than mine of course!)

again,... if this was your car, would you want me to post pictures of it.
Think we need to review our policy of posting these pictures. There are sites that feature wrecks... this is NOT one of them. Today seems to be the day for posting this crap.
PLEASE, think of your fellow owners.

IT IS ONE THING IF AN OWNER WANTS TO POST HIS CRASHED FGT.
RECENTLY ONE DID. OTHER THAN IN THAT CASE, PERSONALLY I FEEL THAT THEY BELONG ON ANOTHER SITE. DISCUSS AMONGST YOURSELF...
ON ANOTHER THREAD. THIS ONE IS CLOSED.
