Yet Another Accufab X-Pipe Install, but

Well I have to say Accufab is extremely quick with dellivery. Ordered it Tuesday and got it Friday. That's California to Texas so they must have shipped it the same day I ordered it.

I also have to say it's a very well made product. The welds are beautiful and the finish is first class. I just wish it would stay that gorgeous high polish but I suspect the heat will turn it gold and blue. That's ok as long as it sounds good.

I'm going to have it installed this week and I'll post my honest opinion of the sound.

Looks like I'll have a slightly used (1000 miles) Borla muffler for sale if anyone needs one. PM me. :biggrin

Just picked it up after the install. Wow! the difference between this thing and the Borla is huge! This is what it should have sounded like all along. :banana :banana

I only got to put 10 miles on because I picked up a screw in a rear tire right there in the dealerships parking lot. Luckily the tech spotted it while he was working on the x-pipe. If I had done a few burnouts while testing my new muffler, right now I might have been posting about how well (or not so well) the inflator kit works.

Anyway it held air long enough for me to get home and I have already ordered a new tire from the Tirerack.

The Borla is definitely for sale. It's perfect for someone who wants just a little deeper rumble without sacrificing long distance comfort (the Accufab maybe a bit much for trips).

Tex,
So is the Acc more noise than the Borla??
I had the headers and Borla but found it too noisy, and went back with the standard can. I had thought about the Acc instead but if it's as or more noisy than the Borla, I need to go a different route...

Could someone please put up an audio clip of the x-pipe!

Thanks

There was one put up a week or so ago when another thread was opened showing the installation on a blue gal

Yep, the link provided by Centerpunch is my car. FFcobra provided his lift for the installation and recorded the sounds.

I couldn't be happier with the sound of the pipe. Sounds like a finely tuned race car when I'm going up through gears...

GT exhaust

Hey the Acufab exhaust sound great. If anyone is interested in listening to the Ida exhaust at redline send me a PM with your personal email & I'll send it to you.

Yes, the Accufab is substantially louder than the Borla. If you are running the straight headers you probably wouldn't like the Accufab combined with it (unless you like to sit in the front row of Formula One races with no hearing protection). :lol

Put the stock headers back on and run just the Accufab and most people would be satisfied. :thumbsup

I am a buyer. Please let me know the price.

Accufab

Just got home after having the x-pipe ($1500+labor) installed, the chip "flashed", inlet boot stiffener and plate spacers done. Extremely pleased with the sound, the look and the professionalism and care taken by everyone involved.

I know I like the sound of the Accufab pipe, but I definitely prefer the tips on the Ford Racing/Borla muffler. I think I'll be keeping my Borla until a tip mod shows up for the Accufab.

Hey! I've got a set of Borla tips you can buy and have them welded onto the Accufab! Solves all your problems! The price is $1700 and I'll even throw in the rest of the muffler for free. :cheers

Personal style can be a huge driving force. I think the Borla tip is more than simply looks even though it has become a bit of a signature for them; as I recall it also works as a bit of a resonator. Someone from Borla may wish to chime in on this.

As for myself; I like the no frills look but then as I said earlier; respectfully to each their own.

I chatted with John today at Accufab and have a cat back piece on it's way as well now all I have to do is get comfortable removing the clam shell.

When I had mine done they did not remove the clamshell - I was concerned as well. They removed the rear/top mount bolt and swung the engine/transaxle assembly down (towards the rear of the car) enough to clear the removal of the OEM muffler.

I was a bit suspicious in the beginning, but after 400 miles I have not experienced any issue. The only evidence is that the bolts shows torqueing marks on it.

Sound Clip

Okay, I have 5 sound clips of the Accufab at a Dyno. We got 515HP/488TQ at the rear wheels and the humidity was real high, so I really do not believe the results represent the true output - compressing H20 vs. O2 has got to rob power. BTW no baseline run prior to the X-Pipe instal.

Regardless, one of the sound clips has the car in 4th gear at 6000+ RPM and it demonstrates what the Accufab sounds like - from the outside. The car had 600 miles on it at the time and it has 900 now. I personally feel the power is slightly increasing with additional miles.

How do I upload the clip? It is 47MB which I more than sure can not be sent via email.
