Kindly requesting that this thread be potentially moved to the "GT's for Sale" thread, for those that are interested in "buying" or "speculating about buying" an ultra bargain Ford GT.

The present title thread appears a little misleading, when objectively and subjectively we all know that the current market does not support anything close to such a valid transaction.

"Don't believe anything you read, and only half of what you see..."

For anyone interested this sale was *FAKE*.. I contacted the seller and it was a hoax auction fraudulently put on the account.

This is apparently an eBay epidemic, as three other exotics I've looked at of other makes have also had fraudulent buy it now prices. Here is the text that accompanied the response to my offer of cash within 24 hours in person. The bolded portion has been copied and pasted on multiple fraudulent eBay auctions.

ebay scammer said:
Hi, and thank you for looking at my auction.

Just like it says on the auction page, the car is an '06 Gallardo Roadster E-gear in black with tan interior and carbon fiber trim loaded with options.
It's in brand new condition, with no dings, no dents, no scuffs, nothing having been damaged on it since new. The balance of the factory warranty will be transferred to the lucky buyer. The car has not been smoked in and was detailed by a professional every once in a while. It has a clean title, no liens or loans, and around 1300 miles, and only one owner, myself. Naturally, this car is garage kept.
I'm being forced to sell the car because I'm moving to Europe with my job, which won't give me enough time to enjoy it, so I figured I'dd cut my loss short and part with it now.
I have set the price at $132,000 in hope of a fast sale, with no further negotiation accepted.
As you can probably tell, I have a very busy schedule this time of the year, so I'm keen on selling the car through eBay, which is to everyone's benefit.
If you're not familiar with the neutral third party, it works like this. After the transaction is started, you are invited to deposit the amount in a neutral account which eBay controls. After the amount is deposited, I am invited to send you the car for a 15 days inspection period during which you need to decide wether to accept the car or not. If you reject it, your deposit is refunded and I have to arrange shipping back for the car. If you choose to accept the car, you have to give consent so that the money is transfered to me.
This works for me because I see the money exists and is held by eBay, in a secured account. It works for you too because the deposit is also insured by eBay.

If you are sure about the car and want to go ahead this way, I need to know your name and address to start the transaction. You need to decide soon, at this price the car is not going to be on the market for more than a day or two.

Sincerely,
Erik Salmonson

What is incredible and beyond belief to me...is that individuals actually believe that a GT sold for 128k, when you could go to a Manheim auction house and sell for 140k+. This is now 2 threads devoted to this nonsense. Just venting...but it really is beginning to be a joke with some individuals trying to convince the world that the GT market is in the tank.

The main thing to remember is what a number of members have said: we bought these cars because WE wanted one. WE now have 'em.

If the price goes UP - "goody-goody".:thumbsup
If it goes down - yawn.:bored

In the LONG run prices will go nowhere but UP. So, who gives a rip WHAT they do right now? "RIGHT NOW" we're drivin' 'em anyway!:banana

Thanks to our "on the ball" moderators for moving the post.

Much appreciated.

Spent this morning driving the GT, meeting up with fellow Southern California GT'ers at Flo's Diner, and just enjoying the car. A good number of interested onlookers.

Yes, this false pricing nonsense is annoying, but I'm glad we don't have to look at it in the main forum. Again, thanks!

Nuts

I think we should drive the prices down to $50K so we can buy a couple more of them for our selves. Since the most of us real car folks are not going to sell...who cares what the short value is? Screw the fools who only want a two week toy and then get the next set of hot wheels.:banana

Let's tell the dealers nobody wants these anymore so we can get some new ones cheap. Good grief!:willy

If 128000 was too good to be true, there is a white/blue car on Ebay right now for 200,000 reserve

Sounds like it's time for us to start identifying all of those sources that seem to support the fact that prices are already starting to climb! :thumbsup

A bit sooner than I expected, but a pleasant surprise none-the-less. (Except to those who were hoping for a second at the 50K price...)

Spoke with a 'real dealer' yesterday who has sold 7 or 8 GT's. He bought a used GT for $140k which he said is rock bottom wholesale. On top of that he has transport cost and margin.

He has got to retail it for north of $150K for that to work.

It will be real interesting to see how much new iron went out the door this month when the stats come out. My guess is new supply is getting tight.

No doubt, this car has had a previous celerity owner, so I am sure that it will help him. Bottom line, $140k is what he considers a great wholesale price.
