Would you buy a Lemon?

It's on eBay. It's in TX. The fact that it's a lemon law buy back does not scare me, but will be a problem to resale later IMHO. If resale is not an issue to you, then I say go for it. But, it will have a branded title as a lemon law buy back.

If that's the sole reason for the buyback, and resale is absolutely not an issue to the buyer, and an appropriate discount applies, it's probably fine.
But since your question is probably asking for personal opinions:
For me, and the dream car, if I had the money, I'd probably spend the extra and buy the clean titled car.

the question is: how much does the title hit effect the value of the car? Since the title is as "bruised" as a rebuilt car what is FMV on a title less than perfect GT.
Since prices are a bit all over the place depending on miles etc etc etc ....
not trying to start a war of words just looking for insight. If the car was not lemon law bought back, then value is easy to look at based upon miles. But since you have miles and a title ding ... its about akin to a "lightly wrecked - no frame damage" car.
This points system on cars that eBay is using is a bit interesting. I inspected a car eBay listed as a 94 score and one that they listed as an 89 score. the later looked better than the former ... :bs

car might be a current or former forum member (hot buttons installed), but priced too high for a branded car so I passed on it.
If anyone knows of a 67 GT500 with Inboard Headlights that was bought back as a lemon, please let me know.

The free car fax on ebay should show dates, logs of service.
I think lemon law is 4 unresolved service visits in 12 mo's; or having car unvailable after 30 days. Cant imagine any dealer wanting this; other than accomodation for frequent customer or fleet buyer.

The current bid is over 125,000 and it still hasn't met the reserve, so IMHO that is already too much for a GT with a branded title.

I agree here.
Far as the dealer agreeing to take it in, they probably 'accepted it' with glee toward a new(er) Lamborghini. Between the two, even the 'branded' GT has slower depreciation.
Branding due to Half shaft bolts and the previous owner did not want to wait or were not available?

There is a buyer and a seller for any item in this world. It is a matter of price. You could sell your car or your house in a day if you are willing to take whatever price you are offered.
That said I bought a "lemon law" Viper once that had a factory engine replacement at 900 miles for a "rattling" noise that customer complained about. Guy had bought the car new and it was his first sports car. The car had a brand new engine and drove great and had the appropriate "discount". I sold it a year later for 2K less than I bought it for with 4,600 miles on it. However with a high dollar car like a GT I don't understand trying to "save" a few bucks when you are still purchasing a six figure car. Do you really want a six figure headache?? :bang:bang

Like the saying goes, you get what you pay for. If you are serious about buying my blue GT, give me a call and we will try to work out something.
Would the "headlight issue," i.e. the non-availability of headlights due to the bankruptcy of the manufacturer, possibly have caused 4 unresolved dealer service issues? Almost seems to me that the original owner wanted to get out of the original sale and may have been looking for an out. I find it hard to believe that any one of our gals could be considered as a "lemon-law" candidate - unless some parts supply circumstances would enable a buyer to get out of his contract. Just MHO.
My 2 cents. The "branded" title afftects value no doubt. But the car is a far cry from a "salvage" title car which most likely is a rebuild. Branded due to a "buy back" is no where in comparison to a "salvage" title car. I would want to save 20 grand plus get all the documentation about the "buy back". Salvage title car has to be depreciated for 2 reasons.....1. The branded title. 2. The actual repairs and having a rebuilt car. Titles are one thing, the condition of the car is another. A repaired car is NEVER worth what a non-repaired car is. Period.
