Any word if Ford is hosting anything special this year?

Don't think so. They didn't last year. They used to have a really kick ass display down by the Townsend. They'd bring out all the SVT cars past and present, including the show stuff like the FR500, the Focus with the Cammer engine, that Boss with the enormous 10(?) liter motor...dozens of cars, including the GT, Mustang GT, Cobra roadster trilogy stuff...now, nothin.

A couple years ago the act in their private event was Morris Day and the Time. Jungle love :lol

Bummer. I guess I'll just show up with plenty of bleach and a water hose. :thumbsup

Saleen has a good display right across from where Woodward splits to Old Woodward by the Barnes and Noble (Borders?). If you show up, just tell them you're one of the Ford GT guys. Mitch Gadd, Bryan Chambers, and probably a few other guys that were there at El Toro should be there...

Woodward

Last year was toned down, but many Ford Employees and friends brought their cars and had special parking spots in Shane park (Birmingham) ..sign up thru Ford Marketing.. T-birds , Mustangs Cobras etc. I attended and it was a good showing.
I am not sure if they are doing any more this year, but it is worth seeing. I have been on Woodward this past Sat and yesterday ...the GT was mobbed and all the cars and lawn chair are there....
I plan the be there on Weds, Thurs, Friday and Saturday. ..Just can't get enough.!

Hooking up with several buds throwing a party in Birmingham on Woodward. Davis between 14 Mile and Lincoln. Brats, beer, burgers, and bleach!

One just finished up an old Mopar Hemi he's lookin' to show off. :cheers

I hear the boys are already crankin' it out there.

Arthur Pornhollow on WRIF spinnin 'Night Moves' .... BAAABY!!

Michigan's main drag: Woodward's cult of cruising lives on

I live but 15 minutes away from the woodward crawl.

I know John Vermeresch will have a big set up Ford Racing/Total Performance.

The cost is getting crazy even for most companines. Our Motor City Marauders paid I think in the neighbor hood of 15K for a parking lot. I think Ford was paying around 75K because they needed room for the display semi.

But if you like big crowds this is 5X the amount of people.:willy

I wanna go, can't doing the Monterey car week, why can't I do both?

I hear 'ya!!

Please use your influence w/the west coast guys -- have Monterey move their date!! :biggrin

Woodward Dream Cruise vs. Monterey Historics

Timing has always been a problem. A few years back when Ford was the featured marque at the Historics, Ford approached the WDC planners to ask if they could "move the date" for the Dream Cruise. Well, you know the answer they got. With your connections, Bony, maybe you could get them to "move the date" for the Historics and Pebble Beach (and don't forget Concorso Italiano & the Quail) to a different weekend? :rofl :rofl :rofl

No decision. Weather projected to be cool and dry in Detroit -- an August rarity. No transportation/logistics costs. See ya' on the street. :thumbsup

Rex, that is pretty damn boring if you ask me, put your gal on Reliable, send her to Miami and back, make an adventure of enjoying an event in your backyard.

Weather actually looks pretty crappy for the next couple of days. Friday/Saturday look ok.

Last night was packed at around 7-7:30. It had emptied out by 11, and it looked to me like the cops were hitting all the parking lots and making people vacate. I hate when they do that. It's just people (mostly middle aged men by their old muscle cars in lawn chairs) sitting in parking lots of closed businesses.

Woodward Tomorrow (Wednesday)

DBK / ALL....I plan to be at the triangle (old Woodward meets new Woodward) with my Blue /White GT tomorrow --will try to arrive at about 6:30. Meeting some Ford employees from my previous 'career'. If you are going up and down, look for us.

Let's see, divert $4K from my Woodward party fund over to Reliable so I can sweat over my car making the 'round trip'? What would EP do?!? Does Reliable have a sleeper cab for ride alongs??

Best part - Bony/GT owners don't seem to know any logical bounds! :biggrin

I'm saving up for next year's Rally III at LeMans. God knows the cost to FedEx our cars (via Boeing of course) won't be cheap!!

Ton's of GT's out tonight. I was the only White car out there but I saw:

3 Heritages (one of which lives less than 200 feet from me)
1 Black
2 Blue
2 Reds

That's alot of random GT's! Traffic was absolutely wall-to-wall tonight. We went out at about 7 and it was just craaaaaawling. Between 12 mile and downtown Birmingham it's about a 30-40 minute journey in the outer lanes (that's about 5 miles)

Insane amounts of muscle cars and hot rods. Too many C5's and C6's. I love seeing the mid-year Vettes and Stingrays, but if I see one more stock C5 vert I'm gonna cry. There's already a day when you can see several hundred of them in a day on Woodward. It's called everyday.

Very Cool..

Dave - thanks for the update. I will be there tomorrow. I can already smell the fuel additives, bubbling oil and hot tires. Was is random, or did the GT's congregate at one spot?

What Ford lied to me I thought I was the only Black with Silver stripes ever made......DBK tell me the black one was all black.......

And Bony could rent one of the litter of GT's at Tim's (Ohio's just down the road a peice) of course Kip might have an extra one and he's just down the street.
