With help from Shadowman, I replaced my 3 drive belts.

Pete,

Read post #10 in the following link. Please check with Shadowman before going at it again but he called my dad back to make sure he understood that the rotation to set the mark was opposite of the instruction in the manual. Please reply to this post as to what his response is.

It is only a small thing to remove the panel and cover and readjust the tensioner. Timely, but will not be a problem: I got the special instructions in last nights e-mail, but believe the static tension is most likely equal to what it will be when going clockwise; but the ability of the spring to function will change.

Pete,

Did the e-mail instructions confirm that the rotation was opposite of the manual instruction?

Having done numerous oil pump belts, I think this is getting blown way out of proportion. The adjustment is really an eccentric cam adjuster. It's probably easier to turn it clockwise, but you can turn it either way. Depending on what side of the cam you are on, your mark may move one way or the other. Honestly, it's rather obvious when you're in there. What's important is that you take a look at the scribe mark and the notch perhaps BEFORE you take it off so you get the idea of what you want to align. I typically will use a mirror and a flashlight as this makes the job much easier.

Okay,

finished, rotating it clockwise and took two more photos; probably not much better than the first set.

The end, for this job.

I know Pe2unia and I would have never spent all the hours together had it not been for "Shadowmans" encouraging words of ..."You can do it and if you have any questions I am just a phone call away"....."Not a problem". I have installed a whipple system, A/F gauge, boost gauge, bumper delete, spring perches, rear view mirror camera, and many many many more small projects along the way. With Shadowmans support in the early days of owning my first car I am now at ease when doing any type of work on the GT's. THANK YOU Bill!!!!!:cheers

Pete, great pic of the notch and scribe mark with the mirror as a tool. This can be useful to others who want to tackle this procedure! Well done!!

Thanks for the picture Pete. That is what mine looked like when finished.
