Whipple or Bust!

After much thought, well only a little thought actually, I drove my GT to Whipple in Fresno, CA (175 miles from my home) & had them install their 3.4L supercharger. It's the 19lb system for 91 octane. Corrected dyno showed 724hp at wheels. I had it slightly detuned for the track (road course of course!) otherwise it would've been a little more hp. Everyone at Whipple was great. They've sold almost 50 GT systems!

Check out my photos of my Whipple experience!

So did the cop pose for you?

Looks sweeeeeeet through the rear glass:cheers

Ed, congratulations on the Whipple, but I am sorry you it appears that your new found HP got away from you. I hope the officer understood that it wasn't your fault. Did you explain to him that it has more than 700 rwhp up from 500 and the car just was going much faster than you thought?

Looks like our resident officer got you near Chowchilla. That stinks! He probably thought it was me. Next time you pass through give me a call. I will buy lunch. Tony 559-994-8100

HELLO Ed,
Great meeting you today, your car looks sweet... sizzling white hot GT.
Cheers,
daniel

I'm convinced the men in blue just REVEL in pulling an exotic/supercar over.

'Had one "shadow" me a month or so ago on I-5 in an "under cover" WSP "radar" car. 'Saw him hiding at the top of an on ramp B4 he had a chance 2C me...'saw him hit the gas the instant I went by ('didn't matter anyway ...I'd been doing 72 in a 70 ...big deal). He then proceeded to follow me while "hiding" behind other cars. He gave up after about 5 miles ... he took an off ramp (& pbly set up his radar shop THERE).:frown

Hey, Ed - how long did the install actually take from the time they picked up the first wrench?

Now you can really drift it through the corners ! :cheers

Man, that whipple is so cool... and I just love that one with the black (rather than polished) case.

'splain something to me though... the Whipple has to use a different processor to control the fuel curve? Is the Mafia contol module included in the price and btw... just what is the final tally on such a cool upgrade?

Either way, color me mucho impressed!

Mafia is just another piece Mardyn but necessary to get the MAF to read correctly since it can't do above 15lbs of boost. You use the same SCT software to tune the beast. Just get the tune and push it down...

When you get to Dallas sometime we can go for a ride in mine :)

So the Mafia deal is an interface between the MAS & the existing GT processor?

Matt, you've got a Whipple on your car? That is bad ass! and yea, I wanna go for a ride.:biggrin

cops, Whipple, etc

JJ 1987 - It was a posed photo with my CHP pal. We had lunch after I picked up my GT. I ended up getting kind of mad at him when he gave me a bunch of crap for my Hoosiers!

Issak GT - My friend (who knows nothing about DOT approved tires) is a CHP officer in Madera County. Because of manpower shortages they have, at best, 3 officers patrolling all of Madera County. So, if you pass by 3 of them go for the Madera County land speed record! Thanks for the call - I'll let you know the next time I come through.

Bony - It was nice meeting you! Thanks for coming out to Whipple.

Black Ice - How was that ride today in my Whipple GT? Tell me what the acceleration Gs were after you download the drift box.

Mardyn - The entire Whipple, tune, Diablo, Mafia, etc runs around $13,000.
After you drive a Whipple GT you'll know why Ford never made it that fast!
