I have had a V1 for ever.It has always been dependable. But today I was driving down the highway and there was a State Trooper shooting me with laser .Not a peep out of my V1.That has happened to me 3 times .
Has any one tried the new escort ?What do you like?
I'm all ears...

I have the V1 and the blinder laser "jammers". While I've still been nailed with radar (dismissed, it really wasn't me!!), I've yet to get stopped with laser (knocks on wood!!)

What about a bear in the air who's timing you from point "A" to point "B", Ron?! :biggrin

Besides, from the sound of things, 'seems like your left foot may no longer need the 'technical' help anyway ("...a State Trooper shooting me with laser .Not a peep out of my V1.That has happened to me 3 times .")! :lol

I would send it in for service and an upgrade (~$120) first.

Mine sees radar and laser miles ahead before I could get a visual. Plenty of time to find the brakes and let someone else take the ticket.

IMO by the time you detect a laser you are busted, the best defense is a good offense with a laser jammer. However, they may be illegal depending on your state.

I beg to differ. Since laser is instant on/off, you can pick up that a laser is in use in your vicinity. Unless you are the only vehicle on the road, the cop is picking out cars way ahead of you first, giving you fair warning before he can select you next.

Now a laser jammer must be helpful.

I do have an upgraded V1 and the only time it signals for Lidar is exactly when the LEO has pulled the trigger on my rig.

Jammer is your only hope. But the Jammer manufacturers will tell you to turn off your jammer and get under the limit Immediately after being tagged. At least it is a fighting chance.

Semper Fi my friend,
A little extreme, considering no Laser detection...LOL

I believe these are legal in most states. Not all, most. Virginia is a famous exception.

PS where you mount the sending unit is key. You have to put them where the Lidars are aimed, like license plates.

That is indeed the recommended procedure, while jamming on your brakes, turn off the jammer, so the LEO can get a reading on your speed, which by then is below the limit!!!!

I don't know about jammers but I retired my V1 for an iCobra (cheap $ too) which also uses an iPhone app and crowd sourcing to know about speed traps and permanent speed cameras, etc. in your vicinity. I got a lot of false signals from the V1 but I know it has fans :)

I dont know about other states but here in FL Cops are allowed to estimate your speed so youre screwed even if you have a jammer. Its BS as Cops will ALWAYS estimate your speed UP

That's because the GT looks fast, even when sitting still!!!!

V1 fan here. Side by side with the best escort, the V1 always gave me more time.

I dont think that will fit in the GT so I'll stick w the V1. If you've had it a long time you can get a new one w a discount if you send your old one back

I have the Escort 9500 in the ZR1, put the V1 in the GT, I like it alot better.. SITUATIONAL AWARENESS I always know how many bogeys and where.. I do like the Stored location feature of the Escort, so it is going in the SUV and a new V1 for the vette. I also have a built in K-40 with laser jamming... is really nice, but to much of a hassle to install...

Those links I posted give you some strong opinions on which jammers are best.
