What sites are you using to do the 3rd Party photo hosting, to be able to post here?

I had used Photobucket for years, to be able to display my photographs here. Then, without warning, they stopped 3rd party hosting and instead of showing photos, they showed a generic sign that says they don't allow 3rd party hosting, unless you sign up for their $399 annual fee.

I'm looking for recommendations for sites that Ford GT Forum members use to host their photographs here on the forum. Sites that will create an IMG, that can be cut and paste into the forum posts. Ideally free, easy to use, or at least more cost effective than $399 per year.

I don't really have the desire or need to regularly 3rd party host my images for anywhere else than this forum.

Thanks in advance! Would love to get back to sharing more images from recent car shows and GT events, once I get this sorted out.
 
For years I've used Flickr, but apparently they've just been bought by SmugMug and all accounts will transfer to SmugMug on May 25th, so not sure of the impact yet.
 
Zenfolio. $60/yr for basic plan, which is probably way overkill if all you want to do if host images for here. But, you can do nice stuff, like a slideshow of Rally 10 for example: http://photo.garyjean.com/p129342200/slideshow
 
Funny, photobucket has been sending me emails letting me know that $399 is now $119.

Still not interested. $39, maybe.

Even before their big shakedown I tried several times in vain to buy a basic membership if for nothing else, to stop the inane pop-ups. Never could get past the first page of the process due to Photobucket causing Internet Explorater, chrome and Firefox to seize up and crash.
 
I just go through the process of resizing, and upload directly to the site. That way they are here, and cant ever be broken.

Yes. Me too for most images. I don't really understand what Randy is looking for, but he's a photographer so I figured he has his reasons. I forget the size limit, but if you try to upload an image that is too big it will tell you the max size.

I too simply embed most of my images directly. I used Photobucket when I was sharing large numbers of photos usually from events or trips and posting them on multiple forums so it was easier to copy links than upload whole libraries of photos one at a time. But I haven't done such an event since Photobucket changed their policy.

I have noticed that my pictures from Rally 9 continue to show here though. I don't know why since they supposedly pulled the plug last October.

Oh, I didn't know that you can just directly imbed the images. I will look at doing that.

When you post a new topic or reply click the "go advanced" and you'll see the "insert image" and "insert video" button on the second row. There are size limitations.

It's possible that years ago, this must be why I went to third party hosting, either so that the images would not have to be resized, or maybe because I didn't like how they appeared in lower resolution. And then, once I had a system of 3rd party hosting, that was great for the past decade, until Photobucket decided to gouge $399 a year. Although according to 2112, they must have realized that they have priced well above market demand / price comfort / value.

Do you resize to a specific file size or to specific dimensions typically? And if so, if you recall, can you share what those sizes are? Thanks!
 
Long edge to 1200 pixels gives a good screen size and small enough file size.
 
I usually go with the vertical resolution at 400-500, Im FAR from a photographer. I simply use "Paint" for the resizing.
 
Anybody know where I can obtain a HI-RES copy of the photo of the red GT (mostly front view with some of the passenger side with the parking lights on and all white background)? I have seen it around a lot on the net, but whenever I google the photos, the sites that claim to have hi-res available, never respond.
 
I use the app "Imgur" Free and awesome.
