I went out to take my car for a drive yesterday and as I pulled away from the house I noticed I was still doing 0? Oh Oh. I just wired my trickle charger up 2 weeks ago so everything was charged right up. I guess the speedo is needing to be replaced?? Very frustrating to only own a car for a month and then have to deal with parts failing on a 3000mile vehicle.

I'd verify the condition of the battery and replace it if there is any question before swapping the speedo. The battery might not take a full charge.

The tender goes to storage mode but I will check its voltage? Thanks Fenzo. Only thing I've done different since getting the car was I turned the sterio on for the first time on the last drive and left it on. So the car started yesterday with the sterio on and the speedo not!?? Maybe related?

I mention the battery because of personal experience, I had a finicky tach that was seemingly healed by a new battery. May not do anything for you.

I assume you've seen the extensive posts about gauge failures, batteries, etc. (?) I don't think that there has been a definitive answer to this issue, but you are not alone.

Disconnect the battery, FULLY CHARGE the battery on a 2 amp charger only.....if it charges and hold the charge put back in the gt...strt car should reset....if battery is warm, and doesnt hold charge, disgard.......good luck, usually the gas and tach go first so the speedo is in line first on LOW CHARGE,from what ive seen....gtjoey1314

Is the mileage guage recording miles??? that should tell you if the speed sensor is working.....

Odometer still works. (This would mean the sensor is working??)

Just to inject a little humor in an otherwise non-funny situation, I thought I'd see something about your bathing suit (speedo)
and even though I don't know you, or what you look like, I was not looking forward to a picture!!!!

I have replaced several speedometers over the years; never a sensor unless physically damaged.

If you have access to the Ford testing tool; IDS/VCM you can do a static test however I suspect that it is time for a new one.

Let me know if I can help walk you throough the process

All the best

RPM217 - No you don't want to see my speedo!! Well not the cloth one anyway.

Checked my battery and it holds a charge at 12.7 so I don't think the problem was battery related. Just another quality Autometer guage. Actually just had the Autometer tach repaired in my Cobra. Sent it back to them and $25 later it was fixed! To bad they won't do the same for the GT guages? Somebody must have the ability to repair these things?? Its just a guage!

Venting makes me feel better!

I had the same thing happen to me about a 3 month ago.. (note I take her out for a drive at least once a week)
Started her up, once at good temperature, took her out.. Then I noticed my Speedo and temp were not working. I pulled over and turn her off and turned her back on everything was in working order.
Checked the bat and the ground, both ok. I normally leave on the AC, radio and radar detector when I turn off the car and when I turn her back on.
It happened again twice so I started to worry. I started turning the AC, radio and radar detector off before shutting her down so that they are off when she is started.
Never had another issue.. I definitely think these problems are related to the battery where perhaps the battery appears good but the amps are not where they should be.

My battery and voltage is good but I did leave the A/C and radio on the last time I started so I will give that a try with them off? I think I will disconnect the battery for a while and then restart. I'll try anything before replacing the speedo! Thanks

Canada pull the cables off....charge battery even if it reads 12 volts...top it off....wait an hour, then put the cables on..hold your nose..it should come back....good luck....but tap the battery for an hour with the charger......gtjoey1314
