We have a 2008 Viper ACR and 2008 Viper SRT10. We are investigating adding:
-Racelogic Traction control
-Paxton Superchargers
-modified exhaust
to our project vehicle.

Any advice or comments?
I have sent an email to a company (dealership group) called Woodhouse.
Supposedly they have the expertise to sell / modify these units but no reply as of yet.

any advice would be appreciated.

Engine recalibration is the lynch pin. With this being the first Dual ETC TB and dual MAF V10 as soon as you start making airflow changes it goes limp mode. I have been pestering SCT about it but they aren't interested given the low vehicle volume and R&D cost to do it.

Torrie...thank you.
I trust you are talking of the Superchargers. Any experience with the RaceLogic Traction control?

Correct that was solely based on the ECU, as for the TC I can't add knowledge about that item

thank you.

No problem, Let me know how the guys at woodhouse handle your questions they have always been responsive to me in the past in regards to viper sales. Never had to work with them on any other level. I would love an 08 but if I can't recalibrate it I don't want to get into it. Went thru the 2 year wait with my 05 and that was too painful

Ok - I will keep you posted.

Torrie...just spoke at length with Mark Jorgensen at Woodhouse. Very helpful and knowledgeable. He is going to provide added information regarding improvements to the Viper.
thanks

Awesome !

Are you going to Road Race the ACR? If so, IMHO, NA is the way to keep it. Mark @ Woodhouse knows his stuff.

i agree :thumbsup

thanks for all the input.
For our project we are looking for ways to improve the basic ACR Viper. Seems that more HP (Supercharging) and the add of Traction control (as we discuss with our GT's ) always comes up.
Knowing that Woodhouse is the largest Viper dealer in North America (World) I contacted Mark for a lenghty discussion. It seems that with the Gen IV engine (new 2008-2009- 8.4 L) that the electronics of the MAF and engine controller put the engine into 'LimpMode' with changes in Airflow (Supercharging) or misfire (detected from Traction control fuel cut off(injector pulse) or spark cut off is detected as an 'engine malfunction')

What I am finding is that none of the Paxton Supercharging options or the RaceLogic Traction control systems will therefore 'work' on the new Vipers2008-2009 Gen IV engines)
Unless someone has other information.

There was the lime green Hennesy claimed to be 1000 HP at Barrett. She was an 08 as I recall him telling us with turbos on her; would they not have had the same or at least similar issues?

Sadly I do not know these gals which is why I ask the question.

Shadowman, The problems on the ACR's with added Belanger Exhaust and Headers has created a check engine light and is reading rear codes on the downstream 02 sensors, in turn one of the cars I sold was running in a race venue and the car after one lap went into Limp mode. To read these codes it is imperative that you have a Star Scan Tool version 2 is being released sometime in the next week or so, the old Star Scan works intermintentaly, a new version that is wireless is being released. The old days you could use a DRB with the 08/09's this technology is done.
There is a new PCM that is due to be released within the next 10-16 days that will fix this check engine code and also as stated by Mopar will increase the hp a true 18-22.
They were also working on a new intake but I was told the program was scraped. The quick fix as I have been told, no proof or experience but on the 08 you refered had the rear 02 sensor removed and tie strapped to the frame?
Hopefully the fix will be here for those looking to modify there Viper 08/09. When the new technology was introduced for the Gen IV cars, I was explicity informed that hacking into the PCM and with all new technology it would not be easy.

The New PCM will fix these problems as I have been told as of yesterday, also there are only a handful of these PCM's being produced for immediate release and will run ball park somewhere South of $1200.

Hopefully the fix is soon to be released. If Woodhouse and Mark can not help with retaining them I have several on order and would be happy to provide information as I have the release and price. If interested PM me.

Welcome to drive by wire.

Thank you for the detailed answered

All the best

BTW; are you stating that only the ACR's are presently limited whereas the typical food chain of Vipers are not?

Thank you again

Shadowman

From all I have investigated ALL 2008-2009 Vipers (Gen IV Engines) have the exact programing and issues. Not specific to only the ACR.

This is what I had been told which is why I questioned what Hennesy had done with the turbo'd gal at Barrett.

Yep starting in 08 they sent from SD to MAF and jumped into ETC. Drive by wire calibrations are a whole separate ballgame let me tell you. That's why iI said what I said back in post #2
