This is a very sad day, lost a friend today, he was struggling with a serious illness, had planned to come to the States for treatment not available in Australia.

Got to know him here on this forum, spoke a few times on the phone, exchanged many emails with him.

Learned early this morning that he passed away last night.

I was looking forward to breaking bread with him in Scottsdale.

We knew him here as Jaspar, his friends called him John.

Poor John never got to drive his GT. How very sad, how sad his friends are.

Rest in peace John, your in God's hands, may God comfort your many friends.

Daniel

I too got to know Jasper through this forum. What a great sense of humor. He posted here less than ten days ago. Though I never met him in person, I still feel the loss of a friend.

Sad day indeed.

Life is short. Enjoy it to the fullest.

Very sorry to hear that.

We had recently corresponded about his coming to Phoenix for treatment. Was also looking forward to meeting him. Wanted to see if he really said G'day.

Here's to our member from the 51st state :cheers

Rest In Peace

I too had a very “special” relationship with John [AKA Jasper].
Jousting emails and “Spirited” discussions on many topics [take a moment and go back and read his posts]. http://www.fordgtforum.com/forums/member.php?u=648
Both John and Mary Jo [AKA Piccola] were coming to visit myself and Mrs. Spirit at the ranch in January on their way from Arizona.
A man with both a great sense of humor and good heart.
We will miss you John.

Fred

P.S. MJ thanks for the email.

GOD of the Spirits, please grant eternal peace unto our friend John.
Let the perpetual light of your grace shine upon his soul.
May he rest in peace.

Amen.

May he rest in peace, and prayers go to his family. The holidays are a bad time to lose a loved one.

This is such sad news. He was a character and a truly great member of the community.

May he rest in peace.

Tough loss, with the holidays and all, GOD SPEED MY FRIEND. :thumbsup GTJOEY 1314

Very sad news.... We all say how important it is to enjoy every day you have. It' so true.. God Speed my friend

Very sad news. John and I have been connected outside this forum for a short while. He was the kind of guy that would give you the shirt off his back. I will miss his friendship tremendously but I also know that we will meet again someday. I know he is in a better place today. GOD SPEED JOHN! TI

Very sad, God Bless him as well as his loved ones left behind.

My condolences to his friends and family. He will be missed.
Rest in peace.

Sorry to hear that, RIP.

John was a wonderful person & a great friend. I’m having a hard time using the “past tense” writing about someone I spoke with every day.

He was funny, feisty, & stubborn as hell. Conversation w/him was NEVER dull! He knew how to get me all riled up, but also knew how to get me to smile or laugh when I was sad or having a rough day. Too bad you can’t make phone calls to heaven.:frown

John had a heart of gold. No matter how poor he was feeling he went out of his way to make sure that everyone around him was happy. Always. Instead of complaining about not getting to drive his GT, he talked about which charity he wanted to donate it to. He loved unconditionally. People lucky enough to have a friend as beautiful as him are truly blessed. I’m really going to miss him.

I think we ought to coordinate a synchronized time when we all go out and do a burn-out in memory of Jasper.

Rest in Peace!!!

R.I.P. John....

John told me the charity he was considering donating his GT to for a fund raising vehicle. He knew exactly how serious his health issues were. I have no idea what is testament states. I do know he never saw his car, it is in Montreal. Was going to be sent down to Oz for a conversion to right had steering/controls. I will connect with DBK, who has already contacted me and perhaps those inclined to support research work might want to make a donation.

I am looking at some car mags from Oz that he sent me, if you knew him you lost a friend, if you didn't know him, you loss is greater than his friends.

He was up against some very big odds. Had several long, medical conversations with him. He was really looking forward to coming here to the US. I was sorry I couldn't meet him in person. Perhaps they have right hand drive GT's in heaven (white, no stripes), cause the devil must surely drive a red/white stripes.

I never had the pleasure of meeting John on here, but from the post's that I now read...I know I have missed a good person..Rest in Peace John. My prayers go to the family he leaves behind, and at such a time of the year.
