Uncomfortable Seats-Help!

I have owned my 06 Tungsten Gray for one month and 600 miles. I cannot get comfortable with the seat, specifically the lumbar area. Does anyone have any words of wisdom? It's driving me nuts.

I am fine with my seat, but my wife says her's causes great discomfort. Believe it or not, the solution was to go to Wal Mart, of all places. I found an abbreviated black seat insert pad with a nice blue Ford logo on it. It's made ofthin foam, and covered with fabric. It drops into place and she says it fixed the problem. I think it cost $19 bucks or so, and its easy to remove.

Thank you. I just returned from Walmart and it does work. I am not real happy, however, with having to resort to a seat pad. I think the seats should be adjustable for the lumbar but I guess it is what it is. Thanks for the tip.

No cupholders either. Have to drive with one hand while I swig my 6 pack of Old Milwaukee (the champagne of the South).

Life's a bitch!

On cupholders.....

While we were at the rally in Dearborn, the evening that Ford provided for us was quite intriguing. One thing the engineers brought up was about cupholders. Did you know if you open a new roll of duct tape you can stick it to the console and it works perfectly as a cupholder?

PLEASE DON'T START ONE OF THOSE THREADS ABOUT THE MULTIPLE USES OF DUCT TAPE!! :ack :ack

For a group that thinks the key fob is not classy enough...what will you all think about using duct tape as a cup holder?????

Uncomfortable seats

I found the seats to be very uncomfortable as well. The vent holes happen to hit me right in the spine. I couldn't drive for more than about 30-45 minutes. After going to a bunch of auto parts stores, I eventually found a suitable pad at Fred Meyer (our local competitor of Walmart). The middle section of the pad was the same width as the middle section of the GT seat. I cut the section out, sewed the edges up with nylon web piping, and sewed on straps that velcro together in the back. It made a huge difference and added just the right amount of extra lumbar support for me.

The attached photo makes it look a little more gray than it looks in natural light. Most people don't even notice them. They just comment on how surprisingly comfortable the seats are.

Jammer that is a very creative solution! Very clever.

Luckily I am one of those who like the seats the way they are. I did not expect a Cadillac seat in my supercar! I have no complaints - I like 'em firm.

And on hot days (or under 'hot' driving, i.e. at the track) the vents are appreciated even more as back and seat perspiration can get very uncomfortable. These seats reduce that problem, which is of course the reason for the original design.

As for that classy idea to use duct tape as a holder, I found a better idea. I have a buxom babe hold my beverages for me, and pass them over in between power slides. I suggest others do the same. That will solve the problem and there are benefits at the end of the ride! Hot women love fast cars.

Duct tape my ass

Here it is . 2 cups + change holder . No seat incursion or leg interference. Pic hopefully attached

Sorry Doc, no pics attached. Try again please cause we'd all love to see.

Pic

The picture was too big . I uploaded it to the picture gallery section. Holds 2 cups/cans and has seperate change holder. NO holes in anything. None. Totally drill free . No glue No tacky duct tape . All 6061 . Tested to hold (at least) 10 lbs. Change holder is every bit as necessary as cup holder (if you have had a quarter fall out of your left front pocket and roll back and forth you will understand)

This is just to much RR !!!!!!!!!!!!!!! :cheers :cheers :cheers

Ha Torrie. :wink

I may have offended someone, so let me clear things up. I understand that Old Milwaukee is NOT the "Champagne of the South" any longer. My pistol-packing buddy in Little Rock assures me that title has passed on to Pabst Blue Ribbon. I stand corrected. PBR Rules!!

The seats fit my ass like a glove! I wish I could put a set in my Porsche. But it's great that forum members help each other with clever solutions to these kinds of problems. :thumbsup
