That ought to be entertaining at 2600 lbs.

Owner of this car is a real nice guy, car nut.

3.05 lb power to weight ratio if that 850 is at the crank. 2.73 lb power to weight ratio if it is at the rear wheels. either way that is wild....

Crazy and awesome at the same time :thumbsup

Transplant done here in Sarasota. A Sarasota Café Racer has one that he drives to the car guys lunches. Here's what it looks like with an LS and upside down Porsche transaxle. Imagine a GT powertrain crammed in there.

Wow, Check the torque in that Puppy, and in the rain.

Look like boat headers and collectors....

Soroush needs to "repurpose" his coffee table!

Love the rain abuse!

The Ultima is a fun car. Mine is the roadster version, called Can-Am, and with no amenities like AC/heater, sound system, etc., weighs about 2090 pounds with an all aluminum small block 427 cu. in. Chev, and puts 569 hp to the tires. It is actually just about as fast around the Hallett Motor Raceway near Tulsa, as my Ariel Atom.

Both cars have done a best of One minute and 19 seconds there. But the 765 extra pounds the Ultima carries, keeps it from being as much fun to drive, as the 1325 pound 300 HP Atom, and I haven't had the Ultima out for a couple of years now, for that reason-

lol @ Eddie

he needs to change his sig to "There is NO SUCH THING as too many toys" :lol

If you attended SEMA this past November, Eddie, you may have seen the GTR at the Mercury Racing booth. They'd put one of their 552 cu in DOHC's in it! (If I remember correctly, it had a Ricardo behind it...but I could be wrong.) Try 'tracking' something like that! :biggrin

One of the guys there referred to the car as "the world's most expensive engine stand"...but he said the car's suspension had been modified to accommodate the extra weight/power and they did intend to make it fully street/track capable ('car wasn't completely finished at that time). I can see the former...but, the latter...I dunno.

They offer their engines up to 1650 HP. (They were actually designed/intended for marine use.)

Not a Ford based motor.
Very impressive though.
Marine engines take a huge beating compared to their automotive counterparts.

Gary, the engine in Jerry's Ultima is actually a 377-inch stroked small-block, pre-LS series, with an Edelbrock EFI intake. Now he's building an Ultra Light Coupe with a 427 LS7 (Z06 Corvette) motor with transaxle from Audi R8.

Not a Ford based motor.

'True. 'Based on the BBC as I recall. But regardless, as you said, it's darned impressive! (And evidently very reliable as well.)

I just bought an ultima a few months ago,, its a hell of a car and I thought it would be fun to stuff that gt motor in it, but comparing the gt motor to the ls7 thats in it now, it just doesnt make any sense, the gt motor is too bulky and heavy adding the transaxle behind it would make it even heavier, the car weighs 2200 the way it sits with gt motor and tranyy it will jump up to 2600 I would imagine. would totally change the dynamics of the car, I don't very much care for the g50 box thats in mine so Ive been talking to mendiola to try and get a 5 speed sequential for it, well see maybe by next year, I still need much time on the track with it,

Hey, Doc, you might look into a Graziano transaxle while you're at it.

From what Fran Hall told me, they're both light AND 'tuff'.
