Track Time

There was one other Shelby GT350 there and it did as you suggested and stayed on the track, but not much fun. I tried quiet mode and 4th gear but still blew the meter. I only could stay under 90db if I left it in 3rd for the entire lap. A shift down to 2nd or even up to 4th made the exhaust howl. The track was using a roving sound meter and I was caught accelerating out of turn 11. My answer is to save the Shelby for Thunderhill and just use one of my Ferrari's at Laguna. Shelby is a real track car for $60k. When it arrives, I'll use my GT at Thunderhill and Sonoma.

Ordered 2 of these to meet sound and allow selection of Track mode on the GT350R:

Also weighed the GT: 3,398 lbs with the Alloy Track wheels and a full tank of gas. That would translate to 3,379 lbs with the CF Wheels back on the car. Also Corner balance was pretty good at 49.4%. Improved to 49.7% in Track mode:

Heavier than I thought

Over 100lbs lighter than a C7 Z06/Z07 - 3,506lbs 3/4 fuel = 3,535lbs full of fuel

675LT - 3,103lbs full of fuel

458 Speciale - 3,340lbs 3/4 fuel = 3,375lbs full

Modern conveniences kill the weight. AC, Power windows and glass, airbags, cats, stereo, dash, adjustable ride height.... The street car is about 550 lbs heavier than the BoP'd race car. Wonder how similar the F/R weight ratios are with the street car at 40/60.

After 3 Track days, the brake pads are nearly half worn, so I ordered some replacements , anticipating more track time next season.

Interestingly, they are labelled Phoenix :thumbsup

OK, that's just plain rad!

The Carbon Ceramic rotors should last several pad changes, right?

Yes, the rotors should be good for multiple pad changes. Unlike regular rotors that just have a minimum thickness, the GT carbn ceramic rotors are engraved with a minimum thickness and minimum weight.

C7 ZR1 (1ZR w ZTK "high wing") - 3,650lbs

GT2RS with the front lift is 3,369lbs:

Porsche claiming a curb weight of just 3241 pounds” – Car & Driver

“Porsche says the GT2 RS weighs 3241 pounds with a full tank of fuel” – Road & Track

https://www.roadandtrack.com/new-cars/a10244618/porsche-911-gt2-rs-first-look-specs/

“To bring the standard 2018 911 GT2 RS’s weight in at its official 3,241 pounds” – Automobile

https://www.google.com/amp/s/www.automobilemag.com/news/first-drive-2018-porsche-911-gt2-rs/amp/

3,241lbs is only 7lbs lighter than your car, 22lbs with the stock exhaust, and 121.5lbs lighter than your car with a full tank of fuel -99.5lbs more (15.8gal x 6.3lb/gal). 2/3 of 23.7 gallons = 15.8gallons.

So the GT2RS with the front lift is actually 3,369lbs with a full tank of gas.

More confirmation of the GT2RS weight (Weissach package, Bucket seats, extended range fuel tank (24gal) 1/2 tank of gas- 3,324lbs

A full (normal 18 gal) tank would then = 3,360lbs
A full (extended) tank would then = 3,432lbs

Additionally:

Porsche GT3RS - Weissach package, bucket seats, BBS FIR wheels (24lbs lighter) - 3,324lbs

Ferrari 488 Pista - (aluminum wheels), full fuel - 3,379lbs

McLaren 600LT - Senna seats, full fuel - 3,067lbs

(His video is wrong stating his own weights of the other cars, you need to watch his previous video for confirmation of these numbers.

Food for thought.

+1 Impossible to draw any conclusions of two different people driving two different cars on an HPDE day nowhere near their limits. I'll show you a video of a miata passing a Ferrari....

Lol. I have seen this happen many times. MidOhio is a perfect track for this...Road America harder but possible.

My most enjoyable times are on the track are on the SPEC Miata up against faster cars . Intermediate and Advanced HPDE groups are perfect groups to show what a proper driver can do with a Low HP Spec Race Car.

If anyone needs HPDE coaching I will be at COTA HPDE Event on Labor Day 2019.
