Thinking of trading in my Murci for a GT???

thanks bros. for the input, well said.
wheres the best place to buy exhaust, pulley, etc... and what are the best mods for the buck?

You can buy pulley/tune from a number of the vendors here. Just click the banners. I got a pulley/tune from Heffner Performance. I made one pass in 40* weather and got out of it but still managed to cross the line at 133mph. It should do 135-136 in cool air with a full pass. Major bang for the buck!

As for the Murci, I find it's taking the pass all prior Lambos have taken with me. I was absolutely in love with it when it came out, but I already find it looking a bit dated, and I'm finding the Gallardo more and more attractive. Still wouldn't turn down either!

bbbb - sorry for the late reply, I've been away for a few days.

I had a Murcielago for a while...

Ooooh, it's so difficult to advise! The Murcielago is a beautiful car - fabulous, art. However it will date quickly as Lamborghini upgrade the Gallardo and update the Murcielago, I guess you'll soon find you're driving last years model. However, this is not really too important in the short term.

I don't have the specifications on both cars to hand, but I'd say that the Murcielago feels a much heavier car to drive - it's quick (no question) but it's 'urgent' compared to the GT. It's a stressed and twitchy beast - mechanical. Way too wide and personally I felt a bit of a dick driving a bright yellow car with scissor doors! But it's art on wheels.... You can feel the passion and breeding. It feels a lump sometimes - too heavy to have the grace of a 360 (for example) or the 'pointability' of the GT.

The GT is different. I love the GT, like I've not loved another car. I really liked the Lambo - but the GT is the real thing. It's the sublime marriage of design and engineering. It's right.

Pick any angle, and I defy you not to enthuse. It's 1960's but will never date - it's such a classic.

Driving it is wonderful - take a spin in one. The power is linear - like the hand of God pushing you along. Nuclear. Easy gearbox and it feels bullet proof. The whole package inspires confidence.

My advice to you? Enjoy the Lambo, thrash it, turn up to ALL your favourite restaurants in it, ensure EVERY friend sees it, do one long trip in it and quench your thirst for this car. Sell it and get the GT - you'll love it.

And that advice is absolutely sincere.

Oh and PS... I think the GT is better built. Looks it to my eye - the engine bay in particular.

What he said!! My '04 Murci 6 speed...and FGT. Get the GT..you won't look back.

Lamboman,

That's the spec of GT that I'm looking to buy to add to my Orange Lambo like yours! Why do Orange and Yellow go so well together!?

What made you buy yellow in preference to any other colour?

Neil,

Just out of interest - what MPG are you getting out of the GT ? (I want to use it everyday and don't want to be at the pumps all the time!)

Yellow/black is my favorite combo on most sport cars...and it is by far the best looking color on the FGT!! lol. My opinion only of course. The body lines of the GT are so beautiful...it takes the most visable colors to bring out the shape the best. Yellow and Red, again in my opinion. And I love contrast...black on yellow is the ultimate contrast.

I say go for it, with that kinda money you can easily buy another lambo right?

No comparison, just FN do it. You'll never look back;apples and oranges!

Dealmaker, I've not really tried to measure the MPG of the GT (or any car). I get roughly 200 miles out of a tank - but if it's driven quickly (which the GT wants you to do) then it's maybe 150 miles before you're wondering where the next garage is.

It's a small petrol/gas tank. This last summer I drove back from the South of France at a fairly steady 110mph (most of the way :biggrin ) and was quite surprised at how far I was getting to a tank.

Lamboman, without turning this into a Lamborghini discussion, have you had yours since new (2004)? Any major problems?

N

Neil,
if you go for just a tune (SCT) you get better mileage, btw. Car factory runs way too fat. It'll be quicker too :biggrin

I didn't do the math, but according to Mark Magowan, a full tank of gas lasts 15 minutes at 200+ mph. :eek

Damn....that means I'm going to have to stop at least once on the way home from the office to fill up!! :biggrin :wink

Thank you Dave!!

Dealmaker, I forgot to answer your color question.

I chose the pearlescent yellow because it seemed to be the 'house' color for Lamborghini. Most of the official photography of the Murcielago featured yellow cars, so I just thought it would look good - which it did.

Interestingly (kind of!) is that yellow seems to attract every stinging bug you can imagine on sunny days! In the UK we have horseflies, not sure what you call them in the US (like big houseflies - nasty, silent and a powerful sting). Whenever I cleaned the Murcielago I got stung by these bastards.

Happy days.
