Thinking of a Porsche

I'm looking for information about 911's. Looking at 2014 model year. I'd be looking at
trading in a Viper for one. I asked on another Board and got bashed. Hopefully
i will get some good information here.

I would look into the 911 Twin Turbo, they're not great at one thing, they're good at everything. I would look at a 1-2 year old one and let someone else take the depreciation hit. Good luck and post some pictures when the deal is done !

I have a 2014 Carrera S. I'm very happy with it overall. Much more of a luxury car w a sports car inside than the other way around (like previous 911's). The new PDK is a huge improvement over the 997.2 PDK. I don't think you can go wrong here…...

I absolutely love the way the current iteration looks inside and out. Can't go wrong with it. The new Turbo S is crazy expensive though.

I think if you are gonna spend near $200K+ on a new 911 turbo s or GT2/3, then just spring for a carrera GT for $450K and youll come out ahead in the end. Theres also one for sale in Plano, TX right now for $350K 20k miles, but not a bad deal IMO, just make sure the clutch is new. Drove the new 911 btw, awesome car. Much better if you plan on DD or driving to work a bit. CGT is more track, weekend warrior, not pothole or speedbump friendly so pick accordingly. Also the cayman S and R are great track cars, cool DD's as well, and relatively affordable.

A 911 is not the most exotic of cars but they are so reliable. You can find 964 turbos's with over 300 000 km and stil going good. For me the must have is the 997 GT2Rs. The last of the real men's car with manual gearbox

I drove the new 911 Turbo S on track at Barber in Birmingham, Ala. Car almost drives itself with all the PSM stuff on. In auto mode it picks shift points better than if you were working the paddles. It can make a marginal track driver like me look fast. Personally I'd rather go slower with a stick shift. They say the PDK is 2+ secs faster per lap with a hot shoe in the car. Rumor is Porsche may cave in and make some stick shift GT3's due to the complaints from hardcore 3 pedal guys.
