The GT40 Vintage Wheels on My 06 Heritage

I couldn't figure out anything else besides the non option wheels as well, so I just painted my calipers orange to match and left the factory option wheels on there...

being lowered, IMO it looks great

I personally keep in mind the fact that this is a "modern" car, not a "1960's" car, with all the technological advantages of a "modern" car. In reality, I really don't want my car to look just like a "1960's version" of the car. I add items and make changes to my car that are in the "spirit" and "pay tribute" to the 1960's car, but use "modern" technology to achieve that aim. In my opinion that is exactly what the stock wheels do. The guys that have taken those wheels and painted them have achieved that exact goal. It has a "spinner" that is an original Ford product that meets the design guidelines of being sized appropriately for the car with a "modern" flair to it. I am always looking at other options, but I have yet to be convinced that someone will be able to do it better when you consider all the factors involved. The stock wheels that came with our cars are pretty bitchin when painted up, and please show me a better looking stock wheel ever mounted on any car that looked better than this? We are damn lucky they look this good. I am beginning to believe that we have had the best wheels right in front of our noses all this time. At some point I will likely paint a set for my car too.

I agree 100% Good post! :cheers:cheers

Wheels

Could the guys who have painted their stock wheels please post a photo, or direct me. I would like to see what others have done (Heritage variety). Thanks.

Here are some pics. on my Heritage compliments of Floridaho Chris.

Ok, that does it ... I'm going to need a set of stock wheels. Suggestions on where to get them?

Midnight, those wheels look great. It looks like they are painted orange all the way to the back of the rim. Very nice. Again, I think it's going to be hard to beat that look. Heritage is a good description of the paint on our cars, because that's exactly the feeling it bestows.

And Peak, you're right. On a yellow car, there isn't any wheel that looks as good as black. It completes the "badass" look of the yellow paint and black stripes. That combination makes the yellow cars the meanest looking version of all the FGT's in my opinion. Yellow and black is a different feeling than the Heritage, it's more like an in your face "this car means business".

A friend has a set of flawless stock wheels he is looking to sell. PM me and I'll hook you up.

This is all I ended up doing on my Heritage Twin Turbo...

Going to do the white paint treatment on the tires and lower it a little more.. Jason didn't get quite as aggressive as I wanted but with the Penskes that can be fixed easily :biggrin

Really thinking about doing the stock wheels as well now... Have to repaint the calipers though :ack:ack

These look nice George. I cant wait to decide on a set of tires for the Red car so I can move the Goodyears onto the painted rims and on to the Heritage. Wally, HELP..........................

BTW guys, the 6 spoke rear rims are in short supply. As of last week, there are only 28 rear rims available in the Ford supply chain. It appears that once they're gone - THEY ARE GONE....................

The Painted Stock Wheels Look Awesome.

They probably didn't sell with the car because the Buyer didn't want them. My guess is the spinners on the front wheels protrude beyond the fender. Thankfully there is only one set in existence. :cheers

They looked better suited for FGT rebody of a Fiero.

I totally agree, but I don't think that you could get away with it on other color cars.

Somebody wants their entire investment recouped...plus artistic endeavor.

Those wheels are straight out of Universal's Central Casting...Ben Hur to show up with the chariot momentarily!
