This is the third time this month i have recieved info about the ford obdII THAT ONCE THE REDUCED PULLEY IS INSTALLED,at about 50 miles of running time its buried forever in the box recording the difference. There is no way out unless a new box is installed, and its not easy getting one of those without alot of heavy credentials . a tough call whether to mod or not to mod, that is the question! this info is not hearsay but from inside the troy belt and out. enjoy gtjoey1314 :thumbsup

One of the great things about having $ and being in the good ol US of A is that we can make choices that others may not have the courage, stupidity or bank account to do.

I'd hardly be worried. Only the "dishonest" folks mods their car, go out and flog it then expect it to be covered under warranty.

But interesting news none the less Joey. Looks like Ford definetly learned their lesson from their previous supercharged production car.

Joey

Corvette guys reflash and change things all trhe time and can re-set the factory settings before taking the car in for service.

So is a Ford GT different, I don't think so.

Don't worry about it.

Dave

Dont waste your time guessing about what will and wont work. Call Randy at Performance Associates, he has a direct connection with Ford and Shelby.

How about getting it fixed, first !? Make sure you claim Ford warranty..

Ive left 4 messages over the last 3 days no return yet, so until i hear i will move on to other conacts, keep in touch thanks gtjoey 1314 :thumbsup

yea, you keep in touch boss...

interesting is however that the GTX has the smaller pulley installed, and the Borla too.. So I guess Ford can hardly claim the smaller pulley kills the engine, rrrigghhht ? :thumbsup

Hello Stefan,
It is important to remember that the GTX is just another project that was in Ford's SEMA display. These projects are done by tuners, speed shops and by no means imply that they are endorsed by the factory. I assure you if they are frame stress issues with the GTX the factory will advise you that your on your own. Cheers, daniel

ECC Module logging

I believe the EEC module logs manifold pressure and engine RPM and retains highest values in non volatile memory similar to odometer readings, I.E. you can't write to the register from an external port(or erase it). You would have to repace the module to avoid a warranty issue. Buying a new EEC module programed for the GT would certainly raise other questions too. I have heard that this site is reviewed from time to time by SVT people. It wouldn't surprise me if some of the folks who are trumpeting the addition of new pulley's and reflashes and have included their serial number with their signature might have a problem with a warranty claim.
Ford does a very thorough engine durability test to assure that the engine, as designed, will meet or exceed customer expectations. They certainly should not have to warranty engines that have been modified from original design intent and thus have not passed durability verification testing. I know that there are laws that SEMA has sponsored that require a manufacturer to prove that the modification caused a specific problem but that shouldn't be too hard in the case of high boost pressure or excessive engine RPM. Probably all moot points anyway because anybody that can afford a GT and then pay to have it modified can afford an engine repair.

My contact says this is not true.

Returned Phone Calls

Lets all thank KERRY P. Now to the nitty gritty , PLEASE read this slowly, make up your own minds and DONT SHOOT THE MESSENGER....
1. I AM NOT CLAIMING I SPOKE TO ANYONE THAT WAS POSTED PREVIOUS .
2. A VOICE CAME TO ME IN THE MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT, THAT VOICE CLAIMS NOT ONLY IS THERE A BURIED COMPUTER WINDOW IN THE BOX '' FORD COMPUTER BOX''and lets call this an'' XRAY BOX'', please keep this in mind.
3.EVEN AFTER CHANGING A PROGRAM THEN SWITCHING IT BACK CAN BE TRACED, READ AND DETERMINED FOR HOW LONG...HOLD ON IT GETS BETTER.
4. REMEMBER I WAS SLEEPING WHEN THIS CAME TO ME, MOST IMPORTANT IS THAT THERE IS AN XRAY TAPE ON THE PULLEY BOLTS!!!! AND PULLEYS THAT EVEN IF YOU RETURNED TO ORIGINAL THEY HAVE A SPECIAL PROCESS TO PROVE THE BOLTS WERE TAMPERED AND THE PULLEY REMOVED!!!!
5. NOT DONE YET .. THE XRAY BOX CAN ALSO BE XRAYED ITSELF ,SHOWING A BREAK INSIDE THE BOX AS PROGRAMS ECT HAVE BEEN TAMPERED WITH, HOW THEY DO THIS I HAVE NNOOO CLUE BUT THEY DO IT.
6. IN CLOSING AFTER THE 3 YEAR WARRANTY WHO CARES , BEFORE THAT , AND THIS IS FROM THAT VOICE AGAIN, THEY LL HANG YOU.........
7. GM ISNT BREAKING THEM THIS HARD ONLY FORD, WAS ALSO TOLD TO ME IN THE NIGHT.
8. ITS YOUR CALL BUT IVE GOT A GUT FEELING ON THIS ONE JUST LIKE LEMANZS DEAD BATTERY.

WELL ENJOY GTJOEY NOT CLAIMING ANYTHING JUST HEARING VOICES IN THE NIGHT :willy

I have not read the warranty, nor do I have any idea of what legal history there is. The law is not right or wrong, it's whatever the judge decides.
So don't listen to me, just venting :biggrin

I don't know if Ford could tell, but I remember in the good old days of computers where some companies put a sticker on the case that, when the case was opened, would tear so they knew you opened it and voided the warranty.

There was a big stink over that, basically people saying "It's my f**king machine, I'll do what I please". Unless you can prove I messed it up, it's under warranty.

I think the same thing applies here. You purchased a GT, it is YOUR GT. If Ford has invaded your privacy by recording your max speed...., that is another issue. But unless the warranty says it's void if you CHANGE the pully, they have to prove you changed a pully, not prove you loosend a bolt. What right do they have to say you're not allowed to loosen a bolt, or tighten it for that matter.
Whos bolt is it?

I wonder if the voices in the night are saying that the same issues apply to the new Shelby GT500?

As far as pulley swaps on the GT500, it ain't happening unless you get a different blower or have someone fab you a new snout for the roots blower.

There is no room on the lower and -very- little on the upper pullies.
