Speedo/Tach not working?

My 2006 has about 700 miles-have not driven it in a few weeks-Out today and speedo and tach are dead? Any help?

Pbly the usual culprit. Battery charge is down, or you have a ground pblm.

Others have had this pblm...'trickle charged (not QUICK charged) the battery for a day or two...pblm gone.

I've had a similar problem where all the gauges were dead. I'd turn off the car then turn it on and they all work. Just happens sometimes but more often of late. Any thoughts?

Very common. Happens when car is started when battery is not fully charged. If you run the car for a while all should work fine. If not then it's another issue.

As stated above...trickle chg your battery & check the battery's ground.

I forget the exact terminology, but, the gauges in the FGT are the "full voltage"(?) type ...meaning they require a full 12 volts (or whatever) to function. So, if the battery's down, the juice available to the gauges 'ain't' enough, and they won't work 'til there IS.

The root cause of the intermittent gauge problem is low battery voltage. For cars sitting two weeks or more frequently, you need to make use of a float charger. A float charger will MAINTAIN you battery at peak levels. In other words, the float charger will "float" on and off as needed to keep your charge at an optimum level. So, not only will it "fix" the gauge problem, but many will tell you that a float charger will pay for itself by easily increasing the life of your battery.

The charger that comes with the GT is fine for this purpose. Although not a float charger, the current is so minimal that it most likely will have no long term harmful effects. Some find it inconvenient to drape into the car to the cigarette lighter. Commercial float chargers will work fine too.... but again may be inconvenient to connect to the battery because of its location in the GT. I sell a couple of GT-specific chargers/harnesses as well as a "generic" kit that many owners are using. (They are all Battery Tender based kits.)

I had the same problem which didn't go away until they fixed the ground and replaced the battery.

I have had that problem on 2 cars that we have had through here recently. It was low battery and ground on BOTH cars. Fixed the problem.....

It happened to me also....I simply turned the car off, re-started, and it was all good.....could this also cause my AC not to come on?

Your problem can easily be solved. There is a sensor in transmission that has to be replaced. You can buy it at the dealer for about $25.00. My tach/speed failed 3 times. Easy to replace. Sensor is loacated left side rear of transmision. It has 1 allen wrench head bolt.
