What type of gap should the plug have:
1) Stock
2) Heffner Pulley/Tune 91 or 93 Oct
3) Whipple SC

I did a search for this but didn't come up with the answer I wanted (which surprised me given the resourcefulness of this site). So forgive me if I am rehashing an old topic.

Interesting

I have been chatting back and forth with TonyG aka Stage 6 the tuner behind Joe's MEGA HP TT gal and he shared that in my case with the Whipple at 19 psi he likes the NGK TR 7 IX gapped at .030 and so it shall be. Furthermore when I did some on line research many others are having great success with them too.

I have had great success with the Iridium plugs on other extreme gals as such I expect nothing less than stellar when installed in this gal too. As I recall Jay aka GTSaver also uses Iridium plugs however I think his flavor are the Denso's.

Takes care

I agree with shadowman on this one. I use the TR7IX on my TTGT although gapped a hair tighter.

I have always use .028 for turbo work. Have not changed plugs in the GT yet. I would think stock would only need .030 to .034 for reliable performance.

Fubar,

I called Heffner about this after I did my dyno pull with the new pulley. We were getting some popping which was attributed to lack of spark at boost..Jason recommended checking the gaps on all the plugs and setting them at .30. After checking mine I had them from .40-.50 so very random.

I also went with the NGK's at the same time>

I just installed the Motorcraft AGSF12FM1 Platinum plugs gapped at .035. I drove the car about 80mi yesterday with no performance issues. The original plugs had about 9500mi on them when replaced. It is very easy to do yourself if you are so inclined. Also, my car is still bone stock.

From my experiences on supercharged viper and turbo saab, platinum plugs are a bad idea due to heat retention and possible detonation. Iridium seems the next step up.

Mine were exactly the same .040 to .050 I brought them back downt o .035
. We'll see how it goes ont he dyno Tuesday.

Any issues with the NGK's ????
