So Cal: Cars and Coffee 6/30/07

Doctor, 5:45am sounds perfect. :thumbsup
Esica, we will be rolling through your part of town around 6:30am. Where do you get on the 405...near Studebaker? Bolsa Chica? Beach Blvd.? Pick an easy on/off ramp and we'll pull off or you can just catch us as we come by...will you have Jimi Jr. riding shotgun with his guitar? :banana
Woboose, we'll look forward to hearing you wake up the entire southern part of Santa Monica as you roll into Ralph's at oh dawn hundred. :bow

for those planning on cruisin' the canyons be on the look out, the cops are now starting a full force patrol of those roads in what they are calling "Operation Safe Canyons" they will be all over the place and cracking down hard.

Have fun guys Ill be at the Cbad meet down here in Carlsbad and cruise our roads where we dont have so many idiots ruining it by crashing all the time.

Thanks for the warning robello. Can you be more specific on what canyons are getting pressured? I ran Angeles Crest Highway last Sunday afternoon and both traffic and police were very, very sparse.

Well, we are in fact here. After being supposed to leave at 6:45, then 7:35, then 8:45, then 9:50 we finally left around 10 and got to Chicago where we were supposed to leave at 11:05, then 12:30, then 1:05 and finally at about 2 am. Got to the hotel in LA at about 5:30 AM.

This is where the story gets REALLY screwy. :rofl

We pull up to the Fairmont, they are booked. So we run down to the beach. Nobody is interested in not charging us full rate for the remaining three hours of the "day". So we go back to the Newport Beach Radisson.

As we pull in to the entrance, a van is loading people. Who's getting into the van? RacerX aka Steve Burmeister of metro Dallas, Texas. At 5:30 am. In Newport Beach, California. An angry man of indeterminate mid eastern origin yelled at him to get in the van when we tried to briefly talk. :lol Either way, the odds on that have to be about 1 in 100 million. WEIRD. Either that or GTJoey really has secret cams on me following us at all times.

We will be there at 7AM on Saturday. See you then boys. Anyone interested in making a full-day mountain run on Friday with Pardo, me and SteveA hit me with a PM or if you know it call my cell.

yeah no problem, glad to help. I do not know which specific roads, I saw it on a news cast and I found this news clip here:

http://cbs2.com/video/[email protected]

where they are on Mulholland but it seems to be something that will be going into effect throughout the area soon.

Have a great day. Wish I could partake in the scouting run, but off to a weekly construction site meeting...

See you Sat, bright and early!

HELP.

I purchased the Livermore Performance Fire Extinguisher Mounting Bracket and have used a wobble extension to remove the factory passenger seat bracket bolts at the front of each bracket.

1) I can't seem to get the factory bolts to rethread into the factory holes.

2) I have the 7mm longer allen head bolts, but no 7mm allen head wrench (got about every other size)

Has any so-cal'er done the install, and if they have or otherwise mechanically inclined, and could give me a quick assist at 6/30/07 Cars and Coffee that would be wonderful...

I can't believe I am asking for help, re-installing two bolts...Better safe than sorry though.

Bringing you a wrench.

White / Blue - Dealer Plates

What a fun day!

Hey Wally, Thanks for the 7mm wrench and for "wrenching" on my car, and bringing the unruly bracket back in line. I'll post some photos under the tech section, fire extinguisher mounting thread later. Hope you liked the demo of my Accufab pipe...Sam - thanks for pointing me in the right direction.

Welcome Camillo and DBK! Sounds like you are enjoying your time in Southern CA. If every Ford shareholder could see the passion and enthusiasm we have for these cars, the stock would be through the roof.

Todd - thanks for the souvenir! much appreciated!

Chris A. - nice to meet you.

Eric - enjoy that new canon lens. nice utilization of the 105mm end of the lens!

Jay - Nice to finally meet you. Glad I haven't had to use the jack adapters yet...But glad to know they are behind my seat.

Bruce - congrats on the new plate and always impressive Heritage. Save the "MEAN GT" plate for your 2nd GT... Pleasure meeting your girlfriend.

Kyle M. - thanks to you and your dad for all the support of the GT. Glad you are both enjoying the car.

Any silver GT Owners in OC??? We want to see one in person sometime...

Here are some snaps with the point and shoot...

Professor Ard of "GT Customizations" is giving an onsite lecture on the positives of eliminating the rear bumper! I believe all FORD GT colors are in the below shot, save the rarest "silver/black stripe" GT of which I suspect not many have seen up close.

Randy, thanks the 105 mm range seemed to fit the image the best~!

I believe Camillo is contemplating the application of the well know biomechanical principle of "Suspended Augmentation" and how to apply its principles to an aftermarket Dual Exhaust Upgrade for the Ford GT. Something large, with more through put, yet firm enough for activities of daily usage, yet able to stand up to excessive load.

Well see if he comes up with anything! :banana

Right SteveA?

Thanks again Wally for the on site assistance today with my fire extinguisher seat mount bracket at the show.

Add some class and safety to your Ford GT. Full information and pics in the Fire Extinguisher mounting thread in the Tech Session (see page 6). Thanks Pete S., BlackIce, and Cobra R.

Nothing like owning a vintage one of a kind Jaguar to enhance one's appeal to the opposite sex, eh? This must be one of those principles that defies economic theory! Age + expensive sport car = extremely attractive male :banana

So far it hasn't worked for me!

Guess I need a more exotic and more expensive sports car!

Trying to retro-design the formula that limits Forum jpeg images to 97.7 kb. I think I may be on to it, but my figures just keep coming out at 100 kb. VooDoo math for me, I guess. :thumbsdow

Randy, I am loving this lens, thanks for the encouragement, I hope we haven't created a photo monster! (moi)

It is very easy to see what is using those extra kb.'s . 36c+ jaguar = 97.7 kb.36d + jaguar= 100kb.
the math is easy:thumbsup

The pictures are much improved over the Malibu series.

They seem more well rounded this time around.

todd, I think your math is off, that was before the augmentation, 48eee + Jag + $$$ = 97.7 kb

Round is sometimes excellent.
