Can this frame damage be corrected? Its it just bolt-ons or is it same precision welds as factory.

Frame supports crushed to engine block

Others with more experience will chime in, but the outboard braces are welded while inboard braces are bolted in. Look at the driver's side inboard lower brace-it is significantly deflected. It is bolted to the bulkhead and the suspension tower-indication of significant frame damage? Also, the picture of the rear shows the exhaust tips askew in the exhaust surround.

If you are thinking about it, contact Rich (GT guys).

What do you mean can the frame damage be correct and is it bolt ons? He cleary states it has frame damage and the pics show pretty well that the frame and welded supports are broke. Its going to need everything from the firewall to the rear x member under the trans including casting. Actually a pretty easy fix, but it needs a clamb not just a section of it. Price is a little high for the car. I would bet you would have 120000-125 in it pretty easy fixed, maybe less if you found a used clamb.

The price of the clamshell alone will put you upside down

I was under the impression frame damage was not fixable.

It seems like parts of the frame are modular and can be bolted / unbolted.

Are members that are not bolted on just get simply rewelded?

Depends on who you ask. Ford doesn't recommend rewelding to fix frame damage, but instead the frame must be replaced. Others have not followed the recommendation and have repaired frames that Ford would say should be junked. The choice is yours as the owner or buyer. I don't know if the frame was heat treated at the factory after welding, if so repairing the frame would be weaker since the area in question would must likely not be heat treated.

Unfortunately, I know this car. It was wrecked less than two weeks after Ryan flew out of state to do a pulley/tune upgrade to it. The owner is a mature, cautious gentleman with track experience. One small brain fart and ka-bam. I had the opportunity to buy the car for considerably less than the asking price. I thought long and hard about it but chose to pass.

Also, is not the seller not one of the largest gt salvage specialists (they are... ) In other words, if it were easy to fix it, they would, vs selling it as is....

The sticky factory video shows how frame is welded

Looked like factory only equipment could do it to insure integrity; they talk about stress tests they do

I sold the car to the previous owner who later wrecked it. I got some pics of it from him right after he wrecked it. The frame is pretty bad.

Pity...wonder how much the parts are worth though..

I think the one at copart at half the price would be alot easier fix.

This is Scott at X-2 Builders...I purchased my salvaged yellow FGT from him 3 years ago. I also made a choice to have him do the repairs ( I live in IL so legally hes not allowed to sell a salvage title to anyone in IL) I have nothing but good things to say about him and his body shop he was honest to me and did a incredible job repairing my salvaged FordGT. My guess is he will be honest with you on the needed repairs.

This Copart one looks better form frame perspective....but as Andy would say every body panel (including clam) needs to be replaced and that makes it impossible to trade at profit
