Reached an agreement to buy a FGT...need opinions

Matteuson,
Does the car hesitates at the lower RPMs ?
Does it stall coming to a rest ?

Neither, no.

The original mufflers have external welds that are prone to cracking. The stuffing also rots. Borla redesigned the muffler after a lot of failures. The 2nd gen mufflers have no external welds and different packing.

I will put it on my lift and look..thank you.

I think you have made a good purchase at a more than reasonable price. As long as the car checks out, jump on it and don't look back.

Thanks for the feedback.

Anyone have an idea on where to get the half shaft bolts replaced?

700hp sounds about right with the pulley & tune. That 700hp would not be at the rear wheel. Typically, a GT with such a mod would be in the neighborhood of ~625rwhp and if a conservative 10% convention is used for parasitic power loss to the wheels, that translate to ~695hp.

Yeah, his license plate says "700HP GT"..well thats what he claims. Whether it is or isnt, I am ok with it as long as its a sound driver. By failures of the muffler what do you mean? I am sure its first generation becuase he had the work done in 2006.

Dyno at 700 by definition means at the rear wheels. Unless he had the engine out. Interpolating backward from the wheels to the crank is an unsatisfying exercise in mental masturbation.

BTW, I don't know TB part #s, but it looks like an Accufab. My Accufab says "Accufab" on the top. IDK if early TBs are the same. In fact, IDK of any other TBs that look like yours, so I'm guessing it's Accufab. The Accufab has 75mm blades, as your receipt says. 5mm larger than stock. No perceptible performance gain, but it looks so cool.

Congrats on the purchase. I will be interested in reading your comments after you have spent time with her. Absolutely a blast to drive!

FYI, some of those KB HCD kits ended up getting some pretty high 6XX numbers. I called SteveA just to be sure, and his car made over 680 rwhp with the HCD kit. Not 700, but pretty close.

Must be the smallest pulley possible with what, at least 18 psi boost? On 91 octane? Well, dynos can be tuned too.

I'm not a big dyno number person, but I do mention it because I've seen more than one car with the kit have similar results.

700 is hard to believe. You said the seller was a friend.

The original Borla muffler had a lot of failures for those who actually drive their cars. Borla officially warrantees for original owners only. This is a $2k part plus installation. The 2nd gen Borla is trouble free.

Actually, I am the 3rd owner of my car and the Ford Racing muffler cracked along the upper left hand edge. Borla replaced it free (including shipping), even though I had no receipt and was not the original purchaser. I posted a message about it a few days ago. List price is now $2750, I believe.

Suggest you use my PPI List, see link below. Not a substitute for PPI by FGT Tech but a good start. Looks like a good car at a good price based on todays market values. Too much money to spend with out a PPI in my opinion.

You can find out from any Ford dealer if the recall has been done. If not, Accufab has the bolts as well or it can be done free at the dealer.

As far as the price, you're doing very well at 230 for an 1800 mile original car. If it's clean and never hit, that's an excellent price for that car today.

That's great news!!

Dealers are no longer doing the axle bolts free of charge. I would go with the Accufab kit.

Correct, ask for an OASIS report. If a Ford dealer did the work it will be on it. It will also tell you of other FORD work like services and warranty repairs. If the bolts were replaced by someone else, e.g., they used Accufab, then it won't be on OASIS but there are other tell tale signs, notably that the alignment marks (the white paint) will be missing on the bolts (or another set painted).

If you have a VIN there are even a few people here that might be able to get it for you. :)

Also, there were two sets of Ford bolts. You want the later set cuz the first ones can fail. There is a date. Mine was serviced on 12-May-08 and I'm told these were the later parts.

Congratulations, and Welcome Aboard! :thumbsup

PS - If you wish to get a PPI done, the GT Guys (Rich & Denis) are only 240 miles away in South Rockwood, Michigan. Also, they can do any work you wish to have done.

I have a similar setuep (Kenne Bell snout with smallest pulley, mafia, long tube headers / borla, accufab tb). Torrie came to Dyno day in Minneapolis - and I got a Torrie tune. 18 PSI. 93 octane. We pulled 678 HP that day with this setup.

Very pleased with Torrie's work.
