I've been lurking around here for a while. Some here may know me from Viper Alley where I've been a regular for a while. I'm going to test drive a 2005 red/white GT this week & I've got a few questions for those here who know:
1. I'm curious as to what all of the problems were with the "early" cars. I know that there was a rear main seal leak, & something with the rear suspension pieces, but what other problems plagued the early cars.
2. While we're on the same subject, up to what build date were the "problem" cars?
3. I've read about bolts failures in the transaxle. Is this a recall problem that affects all GT's?
4. What other recall/warranty "issues" have these cars had?
5. I would think that fit & finish got better as time went on. True or false?

Basicly, I'm looking for things to "look out for", especially with buying a used GT. I'd prefer a white/blue or a striped Tungston without the Big Mac. Anyone know of any out there?

why a used? what are you seeing for prices on them used now?

I have a mid/late 05 with 7k miles now and 0 problems. The main seal leak and swing arm would have been dealt with some time back on the car. If you have questions, go
to this page and put the VIN in, it will say what recalls the car has had. As for the transaxle 'problem' it is not a recall, there are a few very good threads that describe it on this site. I have not seen much difference with fit and finish from 05 to 06.

I talked to a dealer in PA. He told me they are going to finally sell their car. I think he said it was an 05 VIN # 197. Not sure of the color or options, but you might get a deal on it

Sorry, they put that combo out of production after I bought it. I forwarded your request to the guy that knows where everything is. I'll let you know if there are any left out there. I think mine was 1 of 6 exact replicas, so they'll probably be pretty slim, but that's including red calipers, so I'm sure there are a few with the black and gray....
