Question on mods and future value

I have been reading this forum for months now in preparation for getting a GT as a reward for working hard. This car simply has my name on it, and there is no avoiding the inevitable!

I assumed that only a few people would mod this car due to its potential collector car status but boy was I wrong!

Do most of you simply have so much money that it's all about creating the exact car you want and to hell with the future value, or do you simply do mods that can easily be removed and the car returned to stock?

If I get this car I am planning on keeping it as long as I'm around, and I would love to keep improving its performance over time, so if you would be kind enough to give me some insight I would greatly appreciate it.

You can modify it any way you want, just keep the original parts as you can always put them back on. In my opinion you should order every possible option from Ford Racing and have it on the car at the very least. Vintage car values have shown us that the ones with all the factory sponsored modifications are worth the most, i.e. exhaust, tranny cooler, short shifter, etc. Have fun.

Ordering mods from Ford Racing sounds like a great way to go as they are OEM. Do owners on the board feel their quality matches that of the car or do some of the aftermarket options surpass FRPP by a large margin? After all, if I do mod it out I will want to put on only the best that money can buy.

I'd buy any of the exhaust components and the trans cooler. I haven't really looked at any of the other stuff.
