I bought Neil's car this evening. No doubt that it's a big number for an 05 GT, but I like that it's 1/1, great story, came with three crates of documentation and FGT history, and it's been driven so I don't have to worry about putting my own miles on it.

Congrats!

Congrats on the Blue/Silver. It was my favorite. I picked up a black w/silver GT...……..1/12 scale. It's a concept 05 GT. Basically the same but w/spaghetti headers, cantilever rear shocks and no shock towers. Bummer they didn't go that route. It's rear bumper delete too. Got 20% off asking. Couldn't do full size today but I gave my info to a few brokers and learned a little about corps in MT.

It was great to see some, it's been years. I even got to sit in one. I tried the shifter and it seems like it would be hard to NOT start in 1st, Seems pretty obvious where it is and easy enough to get it in. I've driven some cars where you really have to jam it over and this isn't one of them.
The car fit me well, 5'5", and was more comfortable than I was expecting.
When I got out of the car I didn't hit my head. I've been reading, thanks all!
I saw some of the band aids, and the vent fitment in that area. Subtle warping of vents. Rock chips and clear bras. Center steering wheel emblem wear. Nothing that would sway me from buying in my price range.
Red was not on my list of colors but seeing it in person I may end up with one. It looks pretty good!
I wish I had two days here. One to bid and one to check everything out. As it was we saw about 3/4 of it.

Does the seller pay 10% too?

It should be pretty clear that Barrett-Jackson Scottsdale produces higher dollar results than the other auction houses. Results at Gooding, Leake and Bonhams pretty well illustrate how this is about more than just a car for sale.

Hammer Prices only. You can either end of the sale amongst yourselves.

My other thought is that GT is one of a very, very small handful of nameplates out there still defying gravity. There is no other way to frame the results for various McLarens other than brutal. I think the big drop in P1 prices is probably related to exorbitant costs of ownership due to battery replacement, but I could be wrong. Sennas selling at less than MSRP is proof that the market values beautiful over fast.

The 675LT Spider with 217 miles at Gooding hammered at $205,000! Assuming the car is reliable, that is the performance car deal of the century. That is an absolute animal of a car to drive/ I would imagine that Spider carried an MSRP well north of $400,000. Undriven for $205,000? Yowza.

F12 TdF got a high bid of $670k, was routinely north of $1 million. 458 Aperta only got to $450k. Pretty much every 70th Anniversary Ferrari I saw flopped out, which wasn't a huge surprise.

Also nice to see driven cars like 8400 mile Blue bringing strong sales dollars. Really speaks for educated driving buyers knowing the bullet proof nature of maintained GTs vs garage queens.

Yes, a mystery to me. Sold in 2006 at a charity auction for $530

but then sold in 2015 at BJ scottsdale in a normal auction (I think) for $605.

That's a hell of a premium for a low serial number.

OK, taking DBK's chart, I have arbitrarily subtracted 10% from the hammer price to show a rough estimate of what the sellers MAY have received. Seller's fee varies from auction house to auction house, and can be negotiated. There are also entry fees, costs of transporting the car, etc. So one thing we know about these estimates is that they are not correct, but may show ballpark numbers to consider.

The results are not as surprising as I first thought.

The cars that sold for big bucks were the unique cars (Neil Ressler's, and #003), the Heritage cars, and the ultra-low mile cars. For the normal mileage non-Heritage cars, the seller proceeds were mid $200's, plus or minus. And as Dave says, if you're looking to auction your GT, BJ looks like the place.
