Here's a few timelines to consider:
Thursday August 10th-Sunday August 13th
Thursday August 17th-Sunday August 20th
Thursday August 24th-Sunday August 27th

Assuming this is a "get here wednesday night/leave sometime sunday" deal, that'd give thursday and friday time to do the facility tours, meet whatever remnants of the GT production gang that are around(Pardo, Ewing, Hameedi) and spend a day just meeting and greeting with the group. Then saturday we could see about arranging track time for those who wanted, and alternate activities (maybe a cruise down Hines Drive or a dinner/cruise down Woodward, which I can assure you would cause a ten mile traffic jam!).

This is of course a rough suggestion. My only qualms with the 17th-20th is that a) Bony couldn't come, and b) it's the weekend of the dream cruise, which is an utterly hellacious traffic stopper in and of itself.

Whichever seems to be the most popular is the date me and Joey will take back to the Saleen/Ford people. Any other thoughts/suggestions are welcome, as I know many of you have busy calendars to clear.

:cheers

Fine with me to avoid the 17th. Either other weekend is fine. FJP

I don't want to vote because any date is fine with me.
I heard mention of the Ritz, you may want to call them to see what else they have going on, what availability they have, and what sort of parking arrangements can be made.
Would be nice if a guard or two can stand watch as well, I'd certainly chip in for that. Most of us don't want a valet parking our cars, or parking another car next to them, need to discuss that with the hotel. It still sounds like a ways off, but plans and hotel arrangements need to be made well in advance.

It shouldn't be too difficult to work on a GT parade of some sort. I have a friend that does conventions that has worked out parades, just have to ask the city. If not a parade, at least a police escort through certain areas, like a funeral has.

Another issue is where trailers would be parked, that will be an issue for many of us.

I've already talked with the Ritz a few times. Those dates should not provide a conflict for the amount of rooms we need. They'll block of X amount of rooms under the "gt group" and each member can set their own specific dates of arrival and departure.

As far as parking goes, they should be able to accomodate our needs. Luckily, with WHQ being literally a par-4 away, we may be able to just use any number of the large lots at WHQ. They have round the clock security and presumably wouldn't mind a bit over a hundred of their "pace" cars parked out front for a day or two!

We should be able to acquire extra security if it's desired, but if they let us park at WHQ, they have security in expeditions traversing the grounds all nite. Just try driving through there, they'll roll up on you like Federal Agents (i know well) :lol It'd be nice if Ford could accomodate their Supercar owners with that small measure...

Hey, if Ford doesn't treat us right, they'll have to find new buyers for the next supercar they build, if any. I think a few of the owners with serious issues have probably already crossed Ford off the shopping list, but there are plenty that have not.

I might look for a GT500, but I doubt it. I want an exotic, not a supercharged Mustang. Now the GR1 or GR2 are exotic. Seems like Ford would already be asking the GT owners "What do you think about this one, would you buy it"

If the viper were more exotic, and comfortable, I'd have one already.
If the Lambo's had 4 more inches of headroom, I'd have one of those too.

So, that's my word, make more supercars, under $200,000, with headroom. Seems like all those football and basketball players are good target customers, but I don't think many would fit in a GT, I barely do.

Ford wants to have us there

I spoke with a fella by the name of Steve Denby at Ford and he said they were working hard to have us there near the end of production. He did say that the last week of production would not be a good time. I am not sure when that exact date is. KO :thumbsup
