I noticed that Ford have used Speedi-Sleeves on the Engine Oil Crankshaft leak, do you think that this was a suitable repair? The only reason I ask is because it has been a long while since I heard of these being used on modern engines, mainly used on old worn engines.

How many cars were effected, resulting in having a speedi sleeve fitted?

My 2 cents= hell no!! I would avoid one of these cars.

Thanks for posting/bumping these. Many of these pertain to my early car.

would think whenever a GT comes into a Ford shop for service the computer system will alert the dealer to any recalls or bulletins... yes or no?

Not a chance in heck; is it a inexpensive work around that should last..... however would I have allowed such a repair (patch) sorry for those that had this done; no.

This was a process used years ago when had already had one life and the crank was showing some crank wear at the point the seal rides as such many inexpensive motor builders or sellers of engine gasket set used them because it was quick and cheap. Is it still used; apparently so.

In my opinion there was no reason that they could not have at the minimum done a crank swap with a set of bearings and the right thing would have been sadly; a motor swap.

Just my two cent

Good stuff and yet it appears that the issues were relatively minor and caught early.

All in all I think they did a great job

amen... I agree, I would not accept a car that had this patchwork fix...
shame on Ford for taking this short cut :bs

Great work Centerpunch.

Anyone have any recent TSB's to update this helpful thread?

Good point Syco. We should try to update this. I will see what I can find on my end, but OEM sources are likely more up to date.

Here is my attempt to summarize what Centerpunch provided:

Note, some of these only indicate 2005, and not 2006 model year. Pull up the attachments in Post #1 for more information.

Cobrar1339 has provided me with additional TSB's, and I am trying to sort through the duplicates. I also am not sure how to post PDF's, if anyone knows how, I can email them.

Okay, I've sorted through all of the documents provided by Cobrar1339.

The only ones not reflected above, as far as I can determine:

These following three apply many different Ford models in their scope, not just the Ford GT:

Weld Bonding Procedure 04-26-16

Mercon ATF replacement power steering fluid 07-1-7

Interior Trim Paint Match 05-9-3

This last one is specific to the 2005 Ford GT:

Leakage from transaxle cooler bypass line 04-25-6

Syco, where's the TSB about the half-shaft joints leaking? Don't have mine handy, but that's how you get your bolts replaced under warranty.

Not sure, I just tried to summarize what I thought was provided above in thread one, and compare that to what I received from Cobrar1339. If you have the TSB number for the half-shaft joint leakage, then we can see if it is in the above list. If not, if you can post it, that would be a great help.

Thanks!

TSB 05-10-13 has been superseded by TSB 06-23-8 which includes the bolt replacement.
