DBS said:I noticed that Ford have used Speedi-Sleeves on the Engine Oil Crankshaft leak, do you think that this was a suitable repair? The only reason I ask is because it has been a long while since I heard of these being used on modern engines, mainly used on old worn engines.
How many cars were effected, resulting in having a speedi sleeve fitted?

Shadowman said:Not a chance in heck; is it a inexpensive work around that should last..... however would I have allowed such a repair (patch) sorry for those that had this done; no.
This was a process used years ago when had already had one life and the crank was showing some crank wear at the point the seal rides as such many inexpensive motor builders or sellers of engine gasket set used them because it was quick and cheap. Is it still used; apparently so.
In my opinion there was no reason that they could not have at the minimum done a crank swap with a set of bearings and the right thing would have been sadly; a motor swap.
Just my two cent

Syco, where's the TSB about the half-shaft joints leaking? Don't have mine handy, but that's how you get your bolts replaced under warranty.
