Our GT's are STILL "car show" hits

'Just got back from the first car show of the season in THIS area. IT ACTUALLY DIDN'T RAIN for the first time in about 45 days!!!! WE ACTUALLY HAD SUN FOR THE "OPENING DAY" CAR SHOW! Can you believe THAT? (But, the clouds started comin' in - and I KNEW THEY WOULD BE DUMPIN' - so, I split. ...Early! So, don't ask about "trophies"! 'Wasn't there to find out ... and pbly wuzzunt there long enough to "bag one" anyway!:lol )

Our GT's are still a hit with the "car show" crowd, guys. Mine was surrounded like Custer at the Little Big Horn the whole time it was there. Young people, old people & in between were all around it all the time. And I MEAN all the time. 'Musta been about a hundred photos taken with cell phones & digitals. 'Answered the same questions 3 dozen times, you know the drill. 'The usual stuff. There were people callin' other people & telling 'em to get down there to see the car - it was a zoo.

'Felt kinda sorry for the guy who'd brought a blue '72 'Vette rdstr that was parked beside my GT. 90% of the time, it was as though his car wasn't even there at all as far as "attention" was concerned.

'Only had to politely "warn" two people - ON BIKES of coarse (who else?) - to keep their bikes back from the car. ONE of those was a complete jackass. He was about 45yrs old or so (MORE than old enough to know better) and he ACTUALLY SWORE AT ME FOR DOING SO and pedaled off in a huff!! 'Actually cussed ME out for getting nervous about his bike being less that 6" from the car's front fender!!!!!! Lord, how I LUV "granolas".:bs

But, aside from THAT jerk, everybody else pretty much "respected somebody else's property."

All in all, it was a good day! 'Even got the car back to the garage w/o a mark on it! And it "don't git no more gooder" than THAT!:biggrin

EP - glad you made it out. 2 questions:
1/ did you go over 55 MPH:lol
2/ Do you now have more than 400 miles finally:cheers

Took the gal out last night. It was still 60F at 12:00. After running down the strip - it's amazing the number of people that stop, look and even scream. Problem is that now it's pollen season where them damn jack pines spit the green stuff for two weeks. After tomorrow I'm going to have to cover, tarp and cover the gal up for 2 weeks:ack

Geez Larry, send a little rain my way. We have had only 4.60 inches since last July. It's been great for GT driving but not too good for the farming business. The GT is definitely a show stopper. I have had my GT at several car shows along with my cousin's Z16 Corvette and it's like the Vette is invisible when they are parked side by side.:biggrin

Empty! Still only 305 miles? Shame on you! Your GT should be confiscated and given to someone who would actually DRIVE it!!

Glad to hear yo had sunshine up in Bellingham...it poured here in Kenmore....

Thanks for all the ...ah-hum ..."kind werdz", guys!:lol

Now I'm gunna hafta spend about an hour cleaning it up. These things are a lot like BOATS in that department... 1 hr clean up for every 10 minutes "under way". 'Can't BELIEVE the amount of road debris that finds it's way atop the rear diffuser panel - and a few other places as well.
BUT, IT WAS WORTH IT ALL!!!!!!!

'06: my bet is YOU'LL GET TO 500 FIRST!

Tony: IF I COULD send it your way - I WOULD!!!!!! You could have it all!

kageno: It poured here too within an hour of my getting the car back home...just like I said it would when we left the show.

Mad: Yup. In fact, it's rained almost constantly here since the end of last Sept. No joke. Almost every day. Or it was threatening to. Or it was snowing. Pick one. Why do you think we take so many trips to 'Vegas???

YESSIR! 'Twas.

This year it was moved to downtown B'ham (from the ususal "Old Fairhaven" site) because the granola merchants around the former site complained about their customer's "parking" being disrupted ...ON A SUNDAY(?).

I guess they have MORE customers wandering around there with NO car show attraction than they do WITH one!:bs (Never mind that the 200 or so car owners - and all the people who attended the show as "lookie-loos" - SHOPPED THERE the whole blessed day!)

'Sure makes yuh wundur sumtymes...

The One

EP, interesting post and thanks for sharing. I'm with ya, the FGT is THE one. Get the same response while out driving anywhere.

Was gassing it up over the weekend (first beautiful Spring weekend here in Indy) and a guy pulled in off the street, approached me while filling her up and asked if he could take a picture of the car with his cell phone. Course I said sure, i'll get out of the way.

Camilo certainly has given us all a timeless beauty shape that everyone seems to appreciate!

Get use to that, Indy.:lol You can pretty much 'figger' (if you haven't already) on gas stops turning into question & answer - and photo opp - sessions practically everytime. ( You've pbly also noticed cell phones pointed atcha while you're driving down the street?)

Life is 'tuff' for FGT owners, ain't it? It's SUCH a burden!!!!!!:rofl

EP you are RIGHT!

After initial pick up in April 06 had a short stretch of Interstate to traverse with wife in SUV behind. Traveling below speed limit for break in (and varying speeds) in slow lane. Had a line of +10 cars S L O W L Y passing me in the fast lane with people hanging out with their cell phones taking pictures...!

Kinda fun but can be a bit unnerving as these gawkers sometimes do not pay attention to their lane and drift over. Wife bout had a heart attack several times watching from behind.

Always happy to oblige those who want pictures.... After all, it IS the one!

Yes, the on the fly cell phone pictures are fun.

But I agree, most of these drivers seem to have "target fixation" and drift...
