So I had to rent a car yesterday to get home from dropping off my GT at Kendall's and they give me an upgrade to this Cadillac SUV. I pull out of the lot and at the next light I look next to the speedo and see the gauge pictured below. It is a gauge that lets you know when you are getting minimal or maximum fuel economy while driving. :frown

Did you know that when you press hard on the accelerator that you an getting minimal fuel economy, when you are cruising you get average fuel economy and if you lift off the gas or are coasting you get maximum fuel economy?? REALLY??? Whose bright idea was that gauge?? :willy:willy

Honestly if I wanted to buy that car the stupidity of the gauge would have made me leave the dealer. :lol :cheers

That MIN-MAX MPG gauge has been around for years on various models/makes. It is redundant, I agee. Many options/guages are. Just one of many. Could use this thread to post uslessness of various ones.

It's simply a vacuum gauge.

It's a Chick's gauge.

doesn't the mustang have an up and down arrow that does the same thing?

Then there's the "Fun Meter" in the 2010 Mini Cooper convertible that displays the amount of time the vehicle has been continuously operated with the top down. Notice the gauge's prominent placement adjacent to the tach! When I asked about oil pressure, water temp. gauges and so forth, the Mini sales person looked at me as if I had 10 heads (there are none). Think it's dumb? You might want to refrain from expressing any such opinion to a Mini Cooper owner/devotee (i.e. my wife)!

Oil Pressure/Coolant Temp/Tach, in that order. Gas and speedo should be optional.

Mercedes had those in the 70's and 80's

The ones I really LOATHE are those "bar graph" things. Next to THOSE - "digital". Good gallopin' KRYMUNY. :ack

Gimme a std dadgum analogue gauge or FORGET about it. :beer2:
