twobjshelbys- I feel like I know you, too, a little bit. We've conversed in the past on Team Shelby forum, I believe (I am BlackVert over there- haven't been on much for a few years now. I know, my screen name choices are pretty unimaginative...) Sorry about your mother-in-law. If you are back in the area again sometime, shoot me a message. I'd love to have you over for a visit. You might be interested to check out my garage... not just the cars necessarily, but the "garage" area itself is pretty unique.

Yes, that's me over there too. I use the same screen name everywhere since I can only remember one :)

I'm not sure when we'll be coming back there again. It depends on what happens with the estate. If we come back I'll be sure to look you up.

How about pics of the garage???

I prefer to show people in person. Open invitation to any interested members, if you are in South Dakota...

:agree: Smart policy...

Jeez Xcentric, I was just trying to give some friendly advice to a new owner living in some seriously cold weather. These cars with cold tires can be deadly. Don't take my word for it, do your own research. Each year, more and more of these cars get destroyed and end up for parts and people get hurt. Not trying to be a bummer, just friendly advice that was given to me when I bought mine. I appreciated advice from all forum members when I bought mine because I had never driven one before taking delivery of my beauty from Shelby. I owned some pretty wild Vipers that were anything but predictable, but the FGT is a totally different animal. I hope the new owner enjoys his car in good health and comes to love his FGT because it is an awesome piece of machinery.

Apparently, I should tread more carefully on this forum so that I don't offend someone with some friendly, neighborly advice. I didn't mean to offend you...

Welcome SFSDFGT - great choice in car & seller (FGT & Shelby Elite)! I hope you can make it to the Rally in 2013. Everyone posting here is a great guy (& gal).

Ed

PS Great photos Ralphie!

Welcome! Could not have bought from a better guy.

I am only 215 miles from you so might take you up on your garage tour offer. Heck, there might be 10 of us showing up in the spring!

Welcome sfsdfgt. I'm originally from Huron. My mother and 2 sisters live in Sioux Falls. I usually visit them in November or December. My sister owns a fresh olive oil business in SF called the Green Olive or something similar - alzheimers. LOL

For the record, I drive my GT500 in all weather and it's not comparable to driving the GT when it gets cold. Front-engine solid-axle cars with traction aids do not behave like mid-engine IRS cars without traction aids, and if that's your expectation, trouble will find you.

Agree completly. Assuming the car will react ANYTHING like a high horsepower GT500 is recipie for disaster. Been there and done that. The GT is a wonderful machine. Please enjoy every ounce of performance it has to offer. Just lots of folks with experience that was paid dearly for trying to let the new guy know...

THIS CAR IS DIFFERENT do not assume you know how to drive it in cold temps. Give yourself some time to learn what it will do in a safe location.

At least the OP is getting it with Bridgestones already installed. They do give a bit more warning than the Goodyears (which give zero).

Congrats and Welcome !! :cheers

That would be terrific!

Wow- small world, indeed! I wonder if your sister's business is "Olive Destination"? That is just a few miles down the road from me.

Welcome aboard!

Now, go pick out a folding chair to put beside the GT's parking spot! :biggrin (You'll understand that pretty soon!)

SFSDFGT, careful ... if ya read about EP he has more posting and looking timer per FGT than anybody known to man... Congrats!

That's it, that's my sister's business. Next time I'm in Sioux Falls, we'll have to get together for a little car talk.

Sounds good

If I'm ever in Sioux Falls again, I'd love to see your garage.

It would be a privilege to give you a garage tour. After witnessing on this forum the caliber of the car, homes, and garages owned by the members, I'm not sure how mine stacks up, but if people here are anything like me, it's always fun to see another enthusiast's garage.

Xmas has arrived early

My GT was delivered very early this am. We had a small snowstorm yesterday, and I had to plow my driveway before the transport arrived!

I am amazed by how these cars are even more stunning in person than in pictures. I'll attach a couple of (rather poor-quality) photos showing her in her new home. I won't have a chance to test the mechanicals out until spring most likely, but I am very relieved to see that the cosmetic quality of the car is exactly as Shelby described. I can vouch for Shelby now; I wouldn't be afraid to make such a large purchase again, site-unseen, from him/Elite.

It didn't take me long to figure out what my first mod is going to be: exhaust! This thing sounds way too tame for a car that looks this fast. Time to hit the exhaust threads and see what people are loving...

Great looking garage and good call on the exhaust.
