I have a rear shock leaking. Does anyone who has upgraded their suspension have a stock rear shock they would be willing to sell?

MAke sure you check the balance of your tire on the corner with the leaking shock. I had my right rear shock replced under warranty as it developed a pretty good leak. At the Rally in Vegas on the Valley of Fire drive, I first noticed a vibration when the speeds were , well, uh, slightly above the posted limits. Upon inspection, I noticed the leaking shock.

Just for kicks, I put the wheel/tire on the balancer and it was WAY off. I mean, way off. This was really strange. I have had the car since new. The tire had never been off of that rim and the OEM weights were still in place. I can't help but wonder if at some point or another if the tire rotated slightly on that rim.

However it happened, I believe that the rather severe (but hardly noticeable in-cabin) tire imbalance caused that shock to wear prematurely.

Long story short - check the balance.

at 12,000 miles I had both shocks replaced under warranty - reason leaks. I have gone through three sets of rear tires by then and found the leaks while installing the T&A lowering kit.

Check with Torrie (tmcphail) if you are needing a set.

I can get you a replacement set if needed from Ford

Leaking common.

Gentlemen,

For those members whose cars are still under warranty this would certainly be something to look for. Last year when I replaced all four of my shock absorbers with Penske's from T&A, I found one of my rear shock absorbers was leaking. I took it to my local Ford dealership (Ford of North Scottsdale) and they ordered me a warranty replacement. When it came in I exchanged my leaking original shock for a brand-new replacement in the box which I have stored along with the other three originals in my Ford GT parts bin.

These leaking shock absorbers don't create much of a problem so they go undetected. Use a flashlight and examine all four of you shock absorbers closely before the expiration of your warranty.
