Need help to open the door

This is a far superior and "smarter" charger/maintainer for hardly more $

These were "the" charging system of choice for Odyssey batteries.

IMO, BlackICE had the best idea here, and I hope it was not overlooked. If you have a dead battery and cannot open the car - remove a few of the rear belly pan T-27 screws enabling the rear diffuser to hang down a few inches. Carefully reach in there and attach an alligator clip to the positive stud on the starter. Connect this to the positive lead of a battery charger and connect the other lead to a ground. Use a low current mode (~2A) and you can connect the ground clip about anywhere. Wait a few minutes and the doors should open normally. (Good idea, Clinton!)

External plug mod?

Has anyone modified their GT with an externally accessible plug for a charger? I did this years ago on a BMW 750iL which has the battery under the back seat. I hid the plug in the front bumper. Had exactly the same problems with unlocking the car with a dead battery (even with a key), and this solved the problem.

This problem underscores the importance of having both keys for the car - this should be a PPI item in my opinion. I bought a third factory chipped key and also have the zoomie aftermarket key, so I've got four.

Kendall offers exactly such a setup to charge your car.

I too did this with the hard wired plug supplied with the Accumate Charger/maintainer I linked to above. I have it discreetly secured to the venting grille behind our radiators so that I could keep the cord length to a minimum. On a BMW with the battery in the trunk I have it hiding behind the rear license plate.

:thumbsup:thumbsup Its on every car in my garage.. Once I calculated how many chargers I bought from Cooltech, I had to go have a stiff drink.

I added a 15 amp fused charge port where the fake brake ducts are. The beauty of this is if I forgot to unplug it and pull the car out the plug just comes out without any damage to the car or wiring.
